so lets get this straight. you never paid the 10p, you also parked out-with a bay and your complaining about getting a ticket.

next time pay the 10p and park in a bay.

Granted I've seen worse but does seem a bit disproportionate in a 10p car park.

Paying the 10p isn't really worth doing as they're the paper type tickets (not sticky ones) so no chance of it staying put.

As said the OP I thought I was bring courteous by not nicking a car space just before crimbo in a nearly full car park.

That said looks like I'll be off to bite a bullet and stump up.

In car parks where there are no marked parking spaces, drivers shall ensure they park in a manner that does not impede access and egress from the car park, nor obstruct other vehicles

Therefore providing there was no designated motorcycle bays & providing where you parked did not impede access and egress from the car park, nor obstruct other vehicles then you are parked legally.

Defense rests :)

Re: Parking Ticket

I received one by Birmingham city football ground about 4 years ago, parked with everybody on the front of a empty buildings parking area, I was on the end and I was the only one who got a ticket as everyone's been parking there for years so an accepted place to park.
The ticket was recorded at 8.01pm, game kicked off at 8pm, the underhanded scum sucking parasites wait until they won't be challenged and whizz off on their scooters.

Anyway I challenged it, still haven't heard back.

You didn't even pay 10p and stick wedge the paper somewhere visible? Wow.

If I pay for tickets I don't bother trying to display them on bikes, they'll either get blown away or stolen so keep it on me to dispute that I had paid if the need arises.

It seems to be a constant battle with bikes and park spaces, I get so fed up of not knowing what I should be doing because motorcycles are not even acknowledged most of the time, you're frowned upon for using an entire bay anyway and where the heck do you put your ticket safely?

Aargh.

Why now this is most interesting, I couldn't find much on google about bike parking policy.

Do you read that as specific to cars and motorcycles separately or just in car parks where there are no lines at all? I'm not sure.

Well it is lol. Regardless where you parked you didn't have a ticket. You therefore rightly got a ticket. Pay it :)
