And if I have put the puzzle together right, you have a reading on your multimeter while measuring your regulator? And what are you measuring? If it's ohms I would not think it's duff(broken if I understand you correctly?) Did you follow the manual? And how did it compare?

The reg/rec is no longer attached to the back meaning its not joined or touching the bike in any way shape or forum, be imaginative :smt051 :smt040

'''wires are tapped up with duck tape leading to the wires before the connectors (not reg/rec wires) - looks like previous owners had trouble'''

could have had an alarm fitted. i very much doubt that the reg/rec on a pointy would self destruct in 13k. sounds to me like some monkey has been fiddling with the wires so my recommendation is to trace the harness and make good all conections regarding the charging circuit. rictus is right no point in buying something until your sure that its broken.

i know you lot are going to say i told you so, but you told me so.. guess its a good thing

kept mulimeter on battery for a minute and it drops charges... 0.01 volt every so many seconds depending on the batterys current voltage, bad earth alert?

ermmm no it should hover around the 12v and loose a little charge but it should not keep falling. have you tried sticking it on an optimate of sorts?

iv used a trickle charger to top it up from 7volts to 12volts and it keeps falling :/ guess its time to invest in a 12volt motorbike optimate thingy charger :/ mehh

Thankyou alot by the way :)

sounds to me if your battery looses voltage and goes flat after only a few days/hours then youve got a faulty battery,if its only a few months old take it back and get it replaced
