Re: Calling all Triumph owners
I've had mine over two years, done two big trips and over 10,000 and never had to top up between services either.

Re: Calling all Triumph owners
Never had to top up my old Daytona 955i in the 10K miles I did on it, never leaked a drop either. On the other hand my Thunderace drank the best part of a litre of oil every 1000 miles from the day I got it and had been pretty well treated before I bought it. Would I buy another big Yamaha... not very likely - would I buy another Triumph... definitely.

Recommendations Here's the truth: modern Japanese engines are amazingly well engineered and can tolerate a surprising amount of abuse. The question of which oil is best is not settled. http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/Oils1.html So there you go! |

"I am not a lubrication, filtering, chemical or mechanical engineer" This was the very first sentence in the passage he wrote, followed some time later by this:- "Another institute that certifies oils is called the Japanese Automotive Standards Organization, JASO. One wonders why this Japanese organization has an English name. . . In any case, they have two classifications for motorcycles, "MA" and "MB." MA is the one you want. MB is like the API SL category, it's got all those nasty friction reducing chemicals that may scare your clutch into misbehaving. Again, there is an official JASO seal if the oil has been independently tested. The seal is a rectangle; in the upper quarter of the rectangle will be a serial number, and the lower three quarters will just have the letters MA. If the oil manufacturer did their own testing, instead you'll see just words like "Meets or exceeds JASO MA standards."" |
Re: Calling all Triumph owners
Yes I did and thought "may scare my clutch into misbehaving" bah no info there!

Re: Calling all Triumph owners
In addition to not being an engineer he obviously has little understanding of language.
Foreign organisations that use the same alphabet as us have acronyms in their own language, languages that use the Japanese style character set would struggle with that so may as well translate. |
Re: Calling all Triumph owners
I think the 'little understanding of language' thing is becoming contagious.
