Use another branch and get assuerances of what you will get Tim. Next time you`re in Bristol give me a shout mate.

Agree its a first world problem. But still heartily agree it is aggravating. Had similar problems when hiring vans for the mountain bike club. We'd order "LWB Merc sprinter or similar", these suckers are huge and we can get 30 or so bikes without having to dismantle or stack. Going up to Scotland we order the same thing. get and LDV maxxis with its wheels set further back. Good luck getting 40 bikes and same number of bags. We had words and it all came down to interpretation of "similar".

Yeah, but you could hide behind a scaffolding pole at a push and you are in no danger of being mistaken for a basketball player.

Not all back pain is created equal, I can't speak for Tim but I know some people who'd be suffering for a week if they done that much driving, and while a bigger car might not help that much in reality, it certainly wouldn't do much for their mood.

I don't think its unreasonable to ask for the company to provide a car of the class you have ordered and the company has paid for.

Grrhhh they have done it again.

I order a group D 1.8 Mondao, they deliver a group B 1.2 Seat Leon. Sent back.

All they can provide as an alternative is a Transit.

Tomorrow I am off on a 3 day course that is mandatory for my job and run once a year in the UK. My boss will not permit me to use a motorcycle and all I have with business insurance is my van. So certificate emailed to HR so I can claim expenses against it. Hertz have stated they are reducing their fleet further so my problems are likely to be compounded.

I am already maintaining a spreadsheet of my hire costs and associated problems this year. Hopefully it will demonstrate that HR were premature in removing my entitlement to a company car.

I have only ever used Alamo and Enterprise (same company in effect) hired and E-Class Merc for a wedding and got an E-class Merc also hired a Hi-top LWB Renault Master van as I had to collect a garage door and got exactly that.

Think your company should look at moving companies Tim, reason I have gone with Alamo and Enterprise in that past is that they are by far the cheapest.

What are you transporting, server racks?

I'm not (deliberately!) trying to wind you up here dude, but... isn't that a little J-Lo'esque?!

I'm stunned!

In terms of the actual issue, yes hire places are awful - we've had vans booked (for a reason funnily enough) and been presented with all sorts of crap. Still managed to fulfil commitments despite being presented with a ford ka once though...

I dunno I've had to drive a crap motor hundreds of miles and had to do a job and then come home.

That was a f***ing fiat.
