For what? Power is going to the battery from the rec, not away from it, there is nothing drawing any current apart from the battery at very low amps, the loom from the battery is fused already.

You've never had a reg/reg go short. This would tank the battery to earth. The math of this is pretty simple to do.

Well that shouldn't be like that!!!

So now I'm in a slightly bigger job as the 4mm2 cable won't bend to the damaged harness point. It going back to a 5 way connector under the seat then down to 25amp cable

While I mind on (well I've just had the dispatch note for the parts).

For anyone fitting MOSFET reg/recs, there is a UK firm selling the connectors for them
http://kojaycat.co.uk/epages/9500004...0Connectors%22

There service is brilliant, I've ordered on a Saturday both times and got the parts on the Tuesday. They do most of the standard Japanese loom connectors also as I got new connectors to suit the OEM R/R ones.
They are not to dissimilar to Vehicle Wiring Products in range

1500mm? What teh fook are you doing it like that for?
Find a half decent alternator connector, route the wire forwards instead... plug into your new wires.

Oosh.. sha-ting etc... about what 40cm wire run needed?

Side of front cylinder... Hmmm, make sure connections are well grot-proofed and the mounting is not floppy and is sturdy.

I'm running it back to the harness connections. Running it to the alternator would be a right pain like what I'm doing is.
They are the correct connectors and they'll be getting the same treatment as the cigarette lighter plug on the bike and a layer of Vaseline

Kojaycat do not do all the loom connectors just a few of them, though they are quite comprehensive. Unless you go to somebody like "Eastern Beaver" in the States who appear to have a vast range of connectors, I do no know of anyone in the UK that can supply the full range of loom connectors.

Re: Reg/rec wiring

what's the point in running 50amp cable down to 25amp. eermmm none, that makes the whole line 25amp as thats the lowest rating on the same line.

running into the original loom is just asking for troubbbbbbbble as cable gets work hardened throughout its life so rating goes down as the insulation breaks down and the copper goes brittle.

you should have run a whole new line for the charging system.

bad boy :-)

No it wouldn't (you bell end, listen to the people who have done this more times than you've had dinners...)
The harness connections are pointless ways of adding an extra failure point made of skinny wire and rotten connectors.

I'm not saying run it into the alternator, connect it to the plug that comes out of the alternator first.

Either way would still not be 1.5m long.

While you're at it, run the live to the other end of the battery +ve on the starter relay. (no faff when you remove battery then).
