If the traffic warden can't get your details from the bike without disturbing it in any way you can't get a ticket at that moment. If the police see your bike without a tax disc or number plate on show then you can get an FPN for that, if the bike is parked with no disc and no plate then it can be considered abandoned.

What is an FPN and what is the outcome of the police finding an abandoned vehicle? It doesn't mean much in my part of town (N.London). There are abandoned vehicles here everywhere. (Mind you the Islington council does seem to be cleaning up it's act on that one)

FPN = Fixed Penalty Notice, just a fine in this case, though if they catch you repeatedly worse things can happen.
Supposedly they can have the vehicle disposed of. I've heard they're quite keen to do this in central London, maybe they don't care in your area. There aren't often abandoned cars in mine, so I don't know how long it takes. |
