Try Ubuntu, its easy to install and there is a huge base of people happy to help you out. Most of the basic functions that your day to day user needs works straight away, e-mail, browsing, word processing... And you can run 'dual' boot and still use windows if you get scared. Try it, its not as hard as you might think...

Yep, I've downloaded the LiveCD's for both i386 and PowerPC version (I also have a PowerBook running OS X.4) and I'm really into getting to terms with it... as soon as I have time and patience! I guess by using the LiveCDs I'll be able to scr*w around without scr*wing anything on my existing OS's...

A common phrase in the Grinch household.......so I am lead to believe.

The full phrase is:
"I can't bring my self to slap Scoob's".
"Try it, its not as hard as you might think!"

Its is rather eaiser then I first thought... somethings have been a bit of a pain to sort out. Like printer and file sharing, but I've fixed them now.

   Nice one lads.
Well impressed.
Ubuntu is a lovely OS. Learn how to use synaptic, learn about about their third party packagess in all the differant repositories. Huge world of software there for you :)

Also, if you have any problems, you have the Ubuntu forums... people are just falling over themselves to help you out there. You could even ask me

VM? Yeurgh.
FreeBSD I found difficult. Never used SCO anything.
You wouldnt want to just set up the boot loader with a dual booter? Very handy to do. I have it on the laptop at home. Gf wants to use iTunes on Windows... other than that neither of us bother loading windows up any more...

I had an absolutely top notch drive in this morning.

AHHHHHH. Love it.
Just thought I would let you know :)

I know what you mean... I broke my MBR the other day and still haven't fixed it. Something to do with windows not being happy its not on the first disk, so I'll have to juggel it a bit. My own fault for moving me partitions about. But then the only time I use windows now is to play Black and White or something.

there is a XP option called FIXMBR from the recovery consol.

Also when you move partitions you can beforehand just make sure and add a few extra options into the boot.ini so you can load off diffrent partitions.
