Hi,

Just bought a 2001 SV 650 S-Y. It's saturn black with dark grey/blackish wheels. It says SY on the reg document.

Cheers.

And there was me thinking the same, my above photo is from a '99 model and it has the two pinch bolts, so the ones with only one bolt are the latest revisions then?

No, the early SV's had the nice black wheels, later ones had the silver. Don't know what model year they changed though.

My '99 has silver wheels

Like I said earlier Matt, wheels and forks may have been changed. Mostly through accident damage. Has yours got the black engine?

And yes Filipe, later forks have the single bolt.

Well my bike has passed its first MOT ever, there was no equivalent in Belgium so quite pleased as thought something might appear. I'll wear down the last 1.1mm of tread (just legal) this weekend.

My frame number starts with JS1AV111300100xxx i have not been able to trace the model year. Date she was taken in to the service was 02.01.2002 (odd day in Finland)
Cheers

Try emailing Suzuki Finland, they should be able to answer if you really care!

Yes. The early bikes, the 'X' and 'Y' models had two pinch bolts, later bikes went with only one, although as Northy quite rightly points out, it's very likely that the difference isn't perfectly clear cut, as essentially the same forks are fitted to all of them, it's quite likely that any remaining stocks of early parts would have been used on early 'K' bikes, or possibly that some later 'Y's had what we might think of as 'K' parts.
Also, as mentioned earlier, these are the parts that are the most likely to be replaced should an accident occur, as such they shouldn't be considered absolute when assessing which exact model any given bike is.

Yea...it has...

...so my bike could have been binned in the past? :(
