Great pictures, really sharp.

I love spiders, they're absolutely fascinating. One day I'll set up a time-lapse on my car's wing mirror, because I swear the little fella that lives in there is a record breaking web weaver.

Amazing shots!!! Those are stunning. I'm not a big fan of spiders but they still fascinate me.

Nikon D80, Nikkor DX 18-70mm (@70mm). Focusses to about 4", DOF is very short at that distance though, (as can be seen in the pics), I would have preferred to stop down to about F11 or so for a bit more DOF, light wasn't great though so at those sort of apertures the necessary shutter speeds were then to slow as the web moves a surprising distance even on a still day. Anyway, I'm pleased with the results.

Personally I love short DOF shots, really makes you concentrate on the "important" bits of the image. Can you remember what aperture you were at? Just trying to envisage how much DOF you could have got; that background looks very abstract!

In fact, looking back at them again, the first one's my favorite and that has the least DOF of all of them. The legs in front of the abdomen are slightly soft as are the forelegs waving in the air: great composure and a sense of movement there.

Very nice!

Somehow I feel my Sony Ericsson K800i is outclassed in this company. I'd have got a blury shot of the garden fence with a smudge in front of it....

Note to self, buy decent camera this year!

Really very nicely done Ian!
