Re: Its the brand spanking YZFR...125?
I fear people are missing the point, not only do Yamaha want a big slice of the sales pie from hondas cbr125 but bikes such as these are there to entice youngsters onto two wheels and they must be within the legal requirement. They are designed to look cool when you pull up at the park not to rip your face off with mindblowing acceleration and power. After all alot of people here are saying whats the point in looking like that when it can't go like that, but I think my sv looks better than a hayabusa but it doesn't go like one!

Re: Its the brand spanking YZFR...125?
The Aprilia or the Yam have got to take the mantle from the CBR as that just looks ridiculous. From the side, it doesnt look like a bad bike, but from the front/rear it just looks stupid - far too skinny and not cool at all. Looks like someone has put plastics on a pushbike. Coolest 125 you could buy was the DT, and now thats gone.

Exactly. Most people are missing the point. When I turned 17 I did my full test and first stop was bike shopping. I knew I wanted an RS125. Lets face it;
17..... College..... Women.....(or blokes if you lean that way) CG125...... Erm I dont think so. You want something that looks cool and lets face it. When you are 17 all you wanna do is show off. Plus all my mates on there crappy 125's took 5 minutes longer to get to college. As I said before though its just a shame its a 4-stroke. A 2 storoke would have the poke to match the looks! |
Re: Its the brand spanking YZFR...125?
most 17 yr olds buy RS125 anyway cos they are cool and fast, but also not learner legal. If its producing more than 14.6Bhp its not a learner legal bike........

Re: Its the brand spanking YZFR...125?
I think it's cool - why not have a sporty looking bike if its a 125?
In defence of 125s : On the open road I definetly prefer riding around on a 600 but in London my cbr 125 was ace. Nice and narrow so filtering was a doddle and the fuel economy was so good I almost forgot it needed petrol the intervals between filling up were so big. At the lights it lacked acceleration but in corners what kept me from keeping up with bigger bikes was a lack of skill. I can see why people have a full licence but choose to keep their 125. I used to go on the back of my boyfriend's 125, not ideal but it did the job at the time when we didn't have anything else. Why be embarassed? mary |

I had a RS125, loved it. 3 top end rebuilds mind! :reaper: I think the yam looks great from the side, but thats the same as any 125, nice from the side, silly from the front/rear. It is a shame that its not a 2smoke, nothing like a 2stroke powerband :smt106 and id rather see one of these parked up than a cbr125 |
