Very jealous of the LHC, would love to visit, very cool shot too :-)
Mines rather pedestrian by comparison, getting packed for belated Christmas do in Devon tomorrow and decided to array my ties as I've got too many to view easily in any useful fashion.

Now I see why....

LOL, the bottom rows are all the old stock, I thought they'd show least but they stand out too much. The new ones I wear often are mostly in the top 4 layers. The camera doesn't do them any favours though :-/

I realised I was still wearing one (a snazzy yellow number :-P) and I found another lurking around, I need some decent storage for them, got two tie racks but only tiny ones.

Here's another four and a half bar gatepost.
I didn't break it - honest!
One end of each bar goes into the female hole, and the other slides along the 'L' shaped horizontal slot and drops down the vertical.

Cheers Puny - it all makes perfect sense now. I've never seen one like that before but I guess before hinges were cheaply available (as opposed to special order from the blacksmith) these were just the ticket. Last longer than a hinge too.

Mine for today. This little blighter was sat on the ruined tree near my bedroom window. Only had my compact nearby and he kindly waited for me to get it :).

I got that from your previous explanation, but cheers for the pic.

Ps, why do you think it is broken, surely the top rail would just drop in from the top?

Simple yet brilliant design.

Broken or not, something would have to secure the top rail or the first animal that poked it's nose through the gate would have knocked it off.

Rumor is; he lives in a photographic vacuum, seperate from the rest of the world, where the sun always shines and there are more stunning photo opps per week than the rest of us see in a year. ;)

Ha ha! Bill, I suspect photo opps are a lot to do with a particular way of looking at the world.

And the good fortune to be in some stunning locations.....

You say that but a lot of people would say they could take the same shots as David Bailey but we all know there is more to it than that - a photographer knows when to press the button, how to make it special.

It may be of course that Richie takes billions of shots and the delay between posting them is just hunting for a good one... But I doubt it. :-)

Incidentally, when I was young I told girls I was chatting up that I was a photographer. Opened up a lot of doors.

We were chilled about posting one for every day last year, it's hard to get something for every day.

Once the weather improves, then the posts will pick up, everyone is hiding indoors

A bit like Red Ones I have only just uploaded my pics from the weekend. Wanted to get a shot of a very picturesque windmill near here as the sun was out and it was clear blue sky, but the sails were pointing the wrong way. So went to the pretty little town of Chesham instead, as I'd been through it on the way home from work many times but never really stopped for a wander around. The pond in the park was a good excuse to muck about with the light. My cheapo plastic fantastic 50mm f1.8 is growing on me quite a lot.

Too obscure for me.

See the railings in front of the buildings on the right? There's supposed to be a footpath there.

You sure they're not there to protect ducks from speeding boats?
