OK I'll trust you, I had to do the same with Seven and Fight Club as my mates insisted they were good flicks. Maybe that was just a Brad Pitt thing tho...

Hell no,

made in the late Seventies about gangs in NY. Gritting, but funny. Has some great lines like, "don't f@ck with the Wanderers" and "don't f@ck with the Wongs" and who could forget "don't f@ck with the Baldies"

It's a great film, I've seen it soooooo many times.

Gotta disagree with you, nicholson is especially brill in a few good men, and demi's not bad either:-dd and to follow that GI Jane, nice.

You mizunderstood.

I really do like the film...but it a lil trashy for my taste. The film has some brilliant quotes.

Kinda like a guilty pleasure.

Hardly pushing Godfather of my list.

It's better than Godfather 3 though!

Better than saying liking Con Air....which would be embarrassing on a public forum.

The Shawshank Redemption
The Bone Collector
Valkyrie
Forrest Gump
Blood Diamond
Gran Torino
American History X

I watched Ronin a couple of weeks ago - utter she-height. Sean Bean doesn't even take his top off, whats that all about?!

Re: 10 decent flims

I'm between downloading most of the ones listed which i havent seen and this thread.
Ok one that probs will not get said by anyone but 40 year old Scots.

'Restless Natives' I'm biased hence my avatar, but what a film suzuki GP125 getaway car/bike.

'The Expendables' was good as a cheap thrill with most of the hollywood action acters in.

'Powder' a great touching and thought provoking film (nowt to do with coke).

'Fear and loathing in las vegas' Depp is truely strange in this un.

'Top Gun' +1 from me as previously mentioned.

'Overboard' funny but a bit old.

'Blown Away' Tommy Lee & Jeff Bridges class film for action thiller.

'Airheads' funny if you like 80s metal.

'Anvil' such a class rockumentery i promise you'll have a soft spot for Lips.

'Ghost' if you're takin the misses.

these films I've chosen as they appeal to a wide audience although i like em too.

Ghost! I proposed to Barbara bended knee etc in the queue to go in and see Ghost - sadly she said yes....

If you're including old black and white's like "It's a wonderful life" can I include the original "Miracle on 34th street." On the run up to Xmas, especially if its a cold wet day, I'll put both one or the other on to remind me what Xmas is all about.

You've mentioned Xmas in August Bri, but I'll allow it, as the original Miracle on 34th Street is one of my all time fav's

Delicatessen - If you came from Mars you'd still know it's French, truly, truly excellent post apocalypse/1940s surrealism. Wonderful. Actually anything by Jeunet and Caro is worth watching.

C'etait Un Rendezvous. Yes, it's a fake, but it's gloriously irresponsible and contraband and therefore desperately cool and vital.

Bicycle Thieves - An object lesson in how unfair life can be.

Leaving Las Vegas - A car crash of a film, relentlessly grim but difficult not to watch.
