that's not the reason phil lol. Just CBA with a long ride at the or even getting gear on at the moment.
Use it for work sometimes that's about it.

It's not even that Dave it's only 80 miles and motorway or fast A road all the way after you've wound your way up to the M404, join the M40 at High Wycombe and open the taps. You could average 65-70mph easy, which is 1hr 15. You could do it in an hour on a bike if you want to be rebellious!

OK, executive decision time lads!

How about this for a compromise to keep everyone happy and able to come?
  • Meet at the Long Itch at 10am
  • Have Brekkie
  • Do my route to the Long Itch in reverse, taking us back to Husbands Bosworth and then Market Harborough, the route is recommended by bestbikingroads.com
  • Do Mr Spiers Eastern Route either clockwise or anti-clockwise depending on how we are doing for time
  • Arrive in Melton Mowbray for lunch time, have a Pork Pie and meet Rusty
  • Continue Mr Speirs eastern route in whichever direction we were taking

What do you think Grumpy old men of the Madlands?

Who is going to lead? (not me, my fast days are over, I crashed once too often and grew up)

It takes Phil a long way from home, but at least we'll all be coming to meet him half way in the morning and I know he loves Long Itch breakfast! ;-)

(PS: I'd be riding 50 mins purely for the social side of breakfast then turning, round and going back exactly the same way!)

OK, so I'll meet you in Melton Mowbray at 1pm?

Assuming you'll be coming from the south along the B6047 I can meet you at the end of this in Melton at the petrol station (which I think is a Total garage. I know as I've developed an eagle eye for petrol stations with the Tuono).

But happy to meet anywhere in Melton. Like the idea of stuffing my face with pworkpwie

Re: Are we gonna have a rideout this year or what???

Hey Russ.

Yeah we'll do the route that way. See you 2moro at the petrol station. If we are early I guess rather than hanging around in the petrol station we'll scoot over the road to the wee park bit.

Specialone 08-04-11 05:46 PM

Re: Are we gonna have a rideout this year or what???

According to weather forecast this morning, Saturday best day for sun, east coast worst for temp, hope that don't come across to us ;)

Fruity-ya-ya 08-04-11 05:52 PM

Not jealous much ;)

Hope you have fun.

Mr Speirs 08-04-11 06:02 PM

Re: Are we gonna have a rideout this year or what???

17 degrees around Market Harborough 2moro apparently...if that's the worst of the temp then I'll be fine with that :)

My brother in law is joining us on his viffer, but he needs to be back home by 1pm so he'll break off at some point.

Re: Are we gonna have a rideout this year or what???

Well I'm gonna be knackered today, fell asleep last night on sofa, then couldn't get back to sleep then awake at 6.30 cos my cat wanted to go out :(

At least a good brekkie should help :)

Just hope long itch is a bit quicker than last time I went there, 45 mins wait for my brekkie, wasn't even packed.

Last time you went there they had to kill another pig you ordered so much :)

That's probably not far off mate :)

It's gone down a little bit tbh, they have a lot of young staff that are not the brightest I think, hopefully will be ok today.

Phil's parting words as he bugged out early at the end of our last rideout

"I'll have more energy next time"

Specialone 09-04-11 07:37 AM

Re: Are we gonna have a rideout this year or what???

That day of more energy ain't gonna be today :(

I'm stocking up on redbull as well as fuel when I fill up en route to long itch.

Rob, I'd hurry up if I was you, I'm leaving now :)

I was surprised at how unusually competent you were today actually. Still could have kept up on the 125 though.

Good to see you too mate.

Had a great day trying to keep up with Frankengixxer

Now got a night of failover testing to look forward too, woo hoo.

Nice to finally meet you lot. John, you can make it up to me next time :D

I've never seen someone program a 3 mile route that they just rode before :)

You were going quick today then! You managed to ride the route I programmed to that petrol station (yes the one the rest of us hadn't ridden past and didn't know existed), pass it, and back onto the route the rest of us rode, without anyone knowing you had even gone! ;)
