oh another tip... check the fixture list. For instance, there are afew teams not playing in game week 2. Also important to know is that these teams will play again later in the season, meening teams will play twice in a game week, with players that play in both games getting lots of point :)

ok, basic notes for first timers, more basic than before (as I guess they werent that basic)

The aim of the game is to score points. There are afew ways of doing this, some arent as highly rated as others. Every player that plays gets 1 point, and gets an aditional point if they play 60 minutes or more. Defenders and goalkeepers get 4 bonus points if they dont conceed a goal. Midfielders get 1 bonus point for not conceeding, strikers get none. Goalkeepers get a bonus point for every 3 saves they make during the game. So if the 'keeper coceeds a goal, but makes 6 saves, he will still get you 4 points, which is why some of the keepers from weeker teams make a great buy.
goals. for scoring a goal, 'keepers and defenders get 6 points, midfielders get 5 points and strikers get 4 points. this is why it is very benifical to have players in your team who are wrongly classified. Example: Zhirkov, they new russian at chealse. he has been classed as a defender, but is more likly to play on the left wing. He will get all the bonuses of being a defender in the game, but will be more likly to score a goal in the actual match. Arshavin is similar, clasified as a midfielder but will likly play upfront.

assists: if you player sets up a goal, they get 3 points, regardless of possition.

So to sum up, you need players in your team who will score goals or get assists. defenders that score goals are especially valuable, such a Lescott (although I think he is too expensive)

the last way to get points, are bonus points, they are awarded to the best 3 players on the field. with the best players getting 3 points, the next geting 2 and the thrid best getting 1. Have alook at players like Gerard, 35 bonus points lat season, massive. players who control the game, usually midfielders, get bonus points even when they dont score or get assists, which keeps your points ticking over.

ok, building your team.

you can address it in 2 ways, score goals, or keep clean sheets. if you want to have an attacking team, you will probably play a 3-4-3 or a 3-5-2 have cheep defenders and goalkeepers (costing between £4mil and £5.5 mil) and then a powerful goal scoring midfield and attack.
deffensive teams will have expensive defenders and keeper from the top 4 clubs and play a 5-4-1 formation.

to get 50 points a week (which is doing good) you need all 11 players to play 60+ minutes (22 points) and 5 of the to achive somthing (clean sheet, goal, assist etc)and then get bonus points.

if someone dosent play, your subs will come in. subs should be player who play at least 60mins a game, but dosent cost much money. so look for players who are from the less good teams.

I hope that helps.

(I should do this for a job :) )
