Karzai used to work for one of the big oil companies in the region and was hand picked for the job by the Bush family and friends.
Source?? I'm pretty sure this is difficult to substantiate, unless you rely on Alex Jones/Prison Planet/Michael Moore et al.

Think you'd need to be smoking the national export to believe western style democracy would work in Afghan. tbh

The war in Iraq. But I have received enlightenment, and it was quite a shock when it became public knowledge that we had been systematically lied to over the sexed up dossier.

The Afghan venture - what a mess.

I don't have any easy quick fix solution, but it might help if western countries generally stopped trying to impose 'westernness' on people who don't want it.

Enlightenment is a good thing. i'm pretty sure that the basis for the war in Iraq wasn't the only thing that we have been lied to about either.

Afghhanistan is a mess. And I agree that we shouldn't have any involvement.

Thing is, I don't think we're trying to impose 'westerness' (or democracy) for the good of us (security/terrorism etc) or the people who live in these countries unfortunately.

Arc, do me a favour please...when you quote someone leave the name of the person you are quoting in the quote. Saves me time having to read back up to see who said it first etc.

I'll find the source for the Karzai thing if i can.
