Keith.

Probably not too much. Most games use the Havok physics engine which has all that built into it. They do have to test it works though which is fun!

Also, read below, taken from Eurogamer review of Warfare 2.

"Twice, Infinity Ward asks if you're absolutely sure you want to see it. The scene, the fourth you'll encounter in the most widely anticipated game of the year, could be "disturbing" or "offensive", repeats the warning. You smile and agree that, yes, you are sure you want to see it. This is a videogame. They give them 18 certificates, but only to appease people who don't really understand what's going on. Sure, the images of violence and bloodshed on Modern Warfare's battlefields can be disturbing to an onlooker, but death in a first-person shooter is a five-second setback, a micro-reincarnation designed to provide challenge and an impetus to improve, not distress."

Who's saying that they are evil?

It's not news that many people moan on about how video games are soo terrible and that their kids play them all the time. Perhaps those parents should actually bother to read the video games rating system. Yet these are probably the same folk who watched 'Chucky' as a kid and didn't turn into evil killing dolls. ;)

When i was a kid I used to run around playing army with a stick for a gun.

Then I saved my pocket money and got a water pistol.

Now I shoot my friends with realistic looking guns on a computer game.

It's the same thing, for some reason the little boy in inside me thinks it's fun to play with guns.

It doesn't mean I think real life war is a good thing.

That's just Havok physics, as a developer you licence their physics for your game. Enemies going limp and falling convincingly when they die is called 'ragdoll'. It's in pretty much all games these days, in games where you can manipulate the bodies you can make saucy scenes :p

garrysmod anyone???

I swear I spent more time playing in the sandbox world than playing the actual game... Setting up entire armies of headcrab zombies with the AI disabled, then sent them headlong into a forest of wildly spinning file cabinets

Heh. In Oblivion there was a bit where I had to kill two female guards. I then arranged them in a nice 69 on the nearby bed!

I've been tinkering it Fallout3 recently

Very amusing creating a minigun than fires 20 mini-nukes per second or all manner of bizarre weapons:D

I enjoy FPS games, but only ones that are obviously Fiction.

The ones based on historical events you can keep, it just seems wrong to play a game based on a real situation, where real people died.

Yep its a bit wierd, I mean give me the same game, change the graphics a bit and put a different back story on it and I'll play, but tell me I am taking part in the D-Day landings and I'll be logging off.
