Re: Heart Of England Bike Show, Sunday 9th May
Just got in, about to have a shower. Had a cracking day, test rode:
Ducati Hypermotard 1100 Ducati Monster 1100 Honda Fireblade Street Triple Both Ducatis were very fun to ride, Fireblade was hard to ride on the twistys but I felt it had much...much more to give on nice open roads but unfortunately I couldn't explore as mr Plod behind me would've been angry Street Triple was horrible, couldn't get on with the engine noise (that whirring) and as a result was short shifting. It wasn't run in yet too so had blue LEDs in my face after just 6000rpm. RacingDavis decided that he didn't want his bike anymore and chucked his keys away, but fortunately a passer by found them and handed them in so he's now stuck with it. Hope you had a good ride later Pete n Lissa. Mr hunter of the squirrel variety test rode almost everything...even the boring Yamaha's. There wasn't anything remotely interesting from Yamaha. Ta muchly guys, had a blast. |

Im back too, I had a go on the Fireblade and the Ducati 848.
I found the 'blade to be a brilliant bike, smooth, light, easy to ride and very quick. I actually thought it was quite easy to get into corners. Overall a brilliant bike but it doesn't stir the soul, fantastically capable but pretty dull. The 848 felt industrial, the gears required much more work than the 'blade it was not as smooth or anywhere near as easy to ride. It again was very quick and felt willing to dive into corners. Thing is, for all its faults I would have an 848 over the blade any day. (Which is why I took it out twice :)) I tried to get rid of my bike but some unhelpful person did the honest thing and handed my keys in. Twas a great day :D |

Good to see you guys, twas a fun day. Lots of time on bikes for me, write ups may follow.
And not all the Yamahas were boring, they had the fastest Pogo Stick I'd ever been on... |

We ended up at Foxes Diner via a nice circuitous route. Didn't see a drop of rain all day too. Quote:

Yeah I did think about the Museum afterwards. I only went in to use the loo and with my tight schedule didn't have time to look around, could do with going back.
Spotted you guys on the A34 as I was heading home through the road works. Gave you a wave, but you missed me. I also have a picture of somebody's test ride... |
