Re: Race Prepping An SV and Rider
Have you read Tim's thread on the No Budget cup?
They tried to get that off the ground this year but didn't really in the UK, although I think there might be 1 or 2 races. I presume they want to run it next year. I think I remeber one condition was to never have had an ACU licence, so you may want to consider this series before you get your licence. |

I wouldn't worry about dyno-ing the bike and would bump wets on wheels up the list - especially in the UK. few guys here survive with swapping tyres, but if the conditions are changeable, then they are often left high and dry on the wrong tyres. And get some tyre warmers otherwise you'll be left for dead on the first lap or two in sprint racing. |
Re: Race Prepping An SV and Rider
Don't forget the catch tank for all the overflow pipes, and make sure your throttle snaps closed on it's own...
With regard to the rear plastics one of the main reasons for replacing it is the aftermarket fiberglass ones are cheaper than the originals... If you don't mind risking the original for now then just remove the back light and put some gaffa tape across the hole. I know some that fill the hole with a piece of foam first to maintain the profile, but once you start filling it with fiberglass it's never going back on the road again, besides you've still got the problem of the pillion seat to get over. |
Re: Race Prepping An SV and Rider
Are you doing this work in brum binky or in notts... I am always available for a bit of bike messing about, the wiring should be fairly straight forwards as there is only a few bits you will actually need to keep and if they are still connected and not ripped off already its even more simple.

I dont think that is going to be an issue :p... I was going to find a comedy picture of binkys bike but I can't find one :( |
Re: Race Prepping An SV and Rider
I've got a couple of sets of rough rear plastics anyway, so won't mind too much if i bust them up a bit. Would prefer not to though.
Besides don't you need to finish races in order to get stamps on your license or something? Quote:
Feel free to bob down anytime and help ;), it's a nice ride from Mansfield. |
