So did you fail.... Why? Sure it was the car behind you that is at fault, no?

Not for sticking his wheel into the cycle box.

Yep, fail. Was considered dangerous as a) I was pretty close to the lights and should have just gone through, and b) car was right up my ass. Car was at fault too (and probably would have been blamed for any accident), but still bad on my part.

And quite rightly, it really was quite stupid as I had to brake pretty hard to stop. No way I'd have done it in the car and equally wouldn't have done it on the bike if it hadn't been a test.

You will always have the question of what you can and can`t do in a test. I went thru a light changing to red on my test after riding for just 2 minutes. I just ignored it as the examiners seem to have their own opinion of whats right or wrong. I had to pull up as she didnt get thru the lights with me. A stop where you are hard on the brakes isnt a fail tho and how can it be deemed dangerous, was the car going to run the lights after you if you had chosen to go thru on amber?? Unlucky mate, i bet u nail it next time.

Yeah I had a good chat with the examiner afterwards and although he didn't explicitly say, I got the impression it would have just been a minor if the car hadn't been there. The car (a bmw) was almost certainly going to try and follow me through.

On the flip side though, I've actually had a pretty great day. First thing was a trip to the health centre for a 12 week scan for the wife - child #2 is confirmed as well on the way! Secondly it really was a nice day for riding and I exchanged nods with a fair few riders. Thirdly instead of going back to work I've spent the rest of the afternoon with my feet up in front of the TV with a tub of ice cream.

I would say the reason you failed is for not reading the road. If a light has been green for a while you need to be anticipating the change and slowing a bit just in case. He seems to have decided that you didnt read the road properly.

But fair play you have taken it on the chin and are ready to go again. Good luck next time.

that's bad luck m8.

but i my opinion you done the right thing. its not your fault if the beemer was to close.

he was sort of right in his decision....

Junctions controlled by traffic lights

175

You MUST stop behind the white ‘Stop’ line across your side of the road unless the light is green. If the amber light appears you may go on only if you have already crossed the stop line or are so close to it that to stop might cause a collision.

the rule is a bit vague in the fact of the term collision. collision from where? it is not stated.

but:
126

Stopping Distances

Drive at a speed that will allow you to stop well within the distance you can see to be clear. You should
leave enough space between you and the vehicle in front so that you can pull up safely if it suddenly slows down or stops. The safe rule is never to get closer than the overall stopping distance.

not your fault m8 and its just bad luck like the last time.

graet news about the scan though.

skiver.... lol

Seems not all the c*cks immigrated to audis. Takes a special kind of inconsideration to tail gate a learner
