Luckily my eldest has no interest in boys right now, but I would do like you did. Screaming kids, no, but lickle babies I don't mind so much. Although happy to return them to their parents at night :D |
Re: Hyper rant... cover your ears!
boys will be boys. Maybe she needs to find a man or get him to grow up. Unfortunately i know a couple of people where no expense is spared for their hobby but wife and kids can't have holiday/days out etc, and stingy with their 'family' time too. It's a difficult one especially where kids are involved but seems like you're sorting it as much as you can. Good luck Bri, kids are always a burden but worth it (most of the time!!!)

Re: Hyper rant... cover your ears!
Bri...good call. I know I'm not the oldest or wisest, but what he has done is deception for financial gain...it is a criminal offence so whilst your daughter is not going to do anything formal about it...and I agree with that, he does need to know how serious this is.
With anything like this, I can't help myself but take the soft option of trying to be empathetic and find out why the person was so decietful. You won't get those answers by being a bull in a china shop. It may be that he's always been someone who tries to make others believe he has more than he actually has. Maybe he's failing in other areas of life and he, albeit wrongly, found a way to make himself feel better. Perhaps be built up debts and was desperate to get them sorted so as not to worry your daughter. There could be all number of reasons why someone would do this kind of thing with no malice or bad intentions at all and it sounds like he may be one of those people if he is as nice as you say he is. I'd give him a man hug, tell him not to be so stupid in future and if he needs help at any time, you might not be able to give cash, but you'll always be glad to offer advice and help them sort things out if they need it...after all, he's the father of your grandchildren and part of your family now. Like my mum and dad I guess...If Dan did anything wrong, they'd treat him like their own son, tell him off, but be there to help him. He hasn't done anything wrong though so it's ok ;-) Hope it all works out and I would stay away from talking about it too much or bringing it up in future when he's paid you off. Yes...I've had experience of this with a family member. Being angry makes it worse, offering an olive branch and a way to make it up works. EDIT: I should say, whilst I think the above works well in this kind of scenario...the person does still need a bloody good telling, but just one good telling and then move on. His biggest challenge will be winning back your daughters trust! |
