Re: Racism
Getting all serious, "racism" is being used as a buzz word lately, people who get offended by little nothing comments don't really know what racism is imo, if its just an insult, treat it the same as one, don't over react and make it more than it is.
Fat people get insulted all the time, is this any different to being called a racist insult? Ginger haired people get insulted all the time too, is this ok but calling somebody a p*ki or ni**er isnt? Words are just words, racism to me is when its acted upon, plenty of people, white people included, are subjected to real racism all the time, time to stop over reacting. There are / were signs on lamp posts in small heath, brum, "No whites after 7pm", this is racist to me, especially when this country is predominantly white, if i put a sign outside in my street saying no blacks or asians after 7pm, i'd get arrested, we've become so politically correct, we've almost forget about the natives of this country. Im not a racist for the record, i just get sick of people throwing the race card around when its not justified. |

Perhaps I should have put sarcy face next to the comment, but thought it was self explanatory to anyone going through that thread. And if you look through some of my posts over the years they're usually trying to stick up for one race or another when something either ignorant or foolish gets blasted on here. Subtle racism will always be around on any forum, and I agree sometimes on here it can be not so subtle. Still, can't remember reading anything too bad on here but there are definitely a fair few ignoramuses that like to air their views. Besides, you could make a whole new thread on what defines racism or discrimination in the first place. We're quite fortunate on this forum though as we're a relatively 'troll free' zone. |

It seems everyone has been touched by racism....lets not turn it into a willie waving competition though :D How can you even compare racism(yeah, real one) to gingism, fatism,or whatever the terms are. Are you going to put somone who insults a fat person in the same league as someone who dislikes gay people? With respect, that comes across as an ignorant point of view. For the record, I doubt there are too many people who have experienced all facets of that ...as you put it...buzz word racism . But as I said, I don't want to turn it into a willie waving contest. I call it as I see it..... |

I bet if John Terry called another footballer a fat ginger c**t he wouldnt have got sent to court or a match ban, thats discrimination. For the record, those signs have been reported before, they keep reappearing, they don't affect me directly cos the area is a craphole and i avoid it like the plague. |

With regards to Joe 'fancying a chinky' , once again I where yopu are coming from. But does Joe really need to fancy a chinky?. Years ago, a friend of mine used to 'fancy a chinko' . Another friend of mine used to send the kids to the 'Paki shop round the corner' . Both were not racist people but that is not to say, they have to remain ignorant... Personally...and I can't tell you why....I've never felt comfortable saying Chinko, Paki shop or calling the Police 'Pigs'(know/knew friends/acquaintances who do/did) . But that's just me and of course, doesn't necessarily make me better than the next person ..... |

Now if someone was to call Joe...who he/she knows is gay "A fat faggot/homo..." , then it's more than likely(definitely?) we have to see it as a different ball game. We might have to agree to disagree . |
