Yup, the HJC one used to do that- the wee noseclip broke one morning and it cunningly acted as a funnel to blow all my breath into my glasses. I had to hold my breath :)

Just had a quick wintry cold blast on the SV.

The back wheel kept on locking up using even mild rear brake!!!!
Try as I might it was always doing it!!!!Caused a massive slide as well which almost had me off!!!!
Big rear slide trying to pull out of a corner...I was starting not to enjoy myself.

It could have been the rear tyre not playing in the cold weather...I've always found the rear brake to be slack and so very suprised it kept on locking.

I can live with the cold but trying to keep it upright was starting to bite.

I'll leave Winter to other people.

just got some cheap fleece tops and trousers from primark, as it is already icy on the roads round here.

handlebar muffs

Yeah, it's nasty out there lads. I'm warm all over except my hands. I wear silk under-gloves and Alpinestars SP2s (leather/carbon) gloves. I've just ordered a set of Oxford Delux handlebar muffs from Forest Edge at £28.50 incl. postage. So they'll look naff but it means I'll be able to feel my brake and clutch again, plus they will come off easily when the weather warms up again.
Jon.

Top Tip:

Don't go on the bike instead of the car to save half an hour and 80p parking, then drop the thing less than 50 yards from the house when the back washes out completely, even though you're just going in a straight line at a constant speed. :(

I've always been proud of not letting the weather put me off, but I'm seriously considering not riding in ice, when I can help it, after today. :?

Wrap some insulating tape round your clutch and brake levers. makes a huge diference in winter.

Does it keep them warmer or is it a damage limitation exercise, in the event of a spill?

Nope, I think it's much worse too (and my newly scratched bike is testament to it!). I don't know what it is, but riding/driving in January last winter wasn't anywhere near as bad as this November. Global 'warming' my eye! :)

It definetly keeps them warmer. i'm not about to chuck my bike down the road to find out if it limits damage, but ya never know
