being O+ (universal donor) I've given in the past, 78 units, but on insulin now so that's a no no, on the rgeister and my N.O.K. are aware of my wishes, also been called up for bone marrow but for some reason it didn't happen. am second inline (youngest brother is the closest match) to donate a kidney to my brother when they sort out a new anti rejection treatment that will work on him.


I don't see it as donating blood, more building up a stock for later use :shock:

My thoughts exactly, though unfortunatly I've got into a bit of a debt problem with the Blood Bank! :roll:

Although I couldn't at the moment due to recents ops etc, I haven't been allowed to for the past seven years or so anyway. :(

Apparently my body has exactly the right amount of blood in it and really resents any of it leaving the premises by any means. Take any more than a couple of syringe fulls and the ol' body kinda goes on strike and begin a shutdown sequence! :shock: I even had problems with just blood tests recently where they take just trhee tubes of the precious stuff!

I do try to consolidate my debts every couple of years, but so far the same result has ended up with a polite 'no thanks' from the nurses. Though they generally still give me a biscuit and 10/10 for trying, espescially when I say "Look, it's OK, I could do with a nap, just carry on." :?
