We the great British mugs were sold down the river with the vision of a common market with free movement of goods, labour etc. No body has ever voted in the UK for a united states of Europe. Somewhere the common market evolved into the monolith that is the EEC. For god sake it has failed for so many years to get its own auditors to sign off its own accounts. Why then permit it to have overall control of a countries fiscal policy by having a centralised bank and currency.

If we delegate our financial control of the country to a group that have spent near on 1000 years trying to destroy the UK, we might as well hand over our defence, foreign policy, judiciary, etc. Because we are no longer a country, but a puppet state.

Indeed. No one who signed up to the EU, from any country (in the early days, at least, nowadays it's fairly apparent what it is) knew what it would become. It was never supposed to be more than a trade alliance. If you read up on the history of it, I believe it was the Dutch who first discovered what they'd entered into when one of their own citizens, who was actually doing a bit of tax avoidance and wanted to get out of paying some money he owed his government, went to the EU to ask them to overturn a decision in his country's court. What is truly staggering is that they didn't tell them there and then to "**** off". Perhaps if they had, the whole unpleasent business that is the EU could of been avoided.

On the subject of whether we'd be better off or worse if we adopted the Euro, yes, we "as a country" might be better off in some immeasurable ethereal term that economists and accountants comprehend, but to most of us, the British public, we would find a similar situation to what most people in other countries that adopted the euro experienced. That is, the cost of living would go through the roof overnight and surprise surprise, our salaries wouldn't increase to match it.
