Just saw this thread. Have nearly always kept chooks, ATM, we've got 3 New Hampshire/Rhode Is. Red crosses. Lay??? Phwarrrr! 19-20/week, turn leftovers into eggs and manure. They come when we whistle and always want to come into the house. See, they get bored with their own co. Yes, they completely intimidate the cats who slink away to a safe distance. I shut them up at night from the foxes until they're too old to keep then....open Sesame....foxy dinner. BTW, kids lerrve having chooks.
