Can anyone post a link with:

1) The govts reasons that we have a military presence in Afghanistan
2) The govts reasons for backing this new Afghanistan parliament.

I would like to think/hope that behind the hyperbole that there are some solid reasons for our ongoing support. I don't want to get an opinion on this subject without further insight...

I know it's easy to say it's oil related or to get a military presence closer to the iranian border etc but can anyone give me the govts official line?
