exactly what happened with me. 4 of us to one instructor. The two who arrived first (me being one of 'em luckily) got to do the road ride out first whilst the other two sat twiddling their thumbs in the office.

What is worse is that the school knew very well I wanted to to DAS, but they put me on a 50cc. I said to the guy how about the 125 geared, and he laughed saying you can't do that in one day. What a load of b*ollocks. He then said I'd have to come back and do a 125geared conversion day.

I ditched them and did it elsewhere, a place that has no beef with people doing CBT's on 125geared.

I'm another closet CBT failer :smt053:
Funnily enough it's 'only' £30 to retake or £60+ to go elsewhere and I passed within 15 minutes the following day. ****s . Same sorta thing some places pull with MOTs, lesson learnt early on though :)

He finally passed his CBT - here is the email he sent...

"Passed me CBT on Tuesday - at the 3rd attempt!
Had loads of fun riding around for about an hour - so am looking to get my first Bike!!

Heres my Biker's CV to date:

1st time: I cried for me mum
2nd time: Nearly killed meself
3rd time: Wobbled but stayed on! Result!!

Have been listening to Motorhead 'Iron Horse (Born To Lose)' to get me in the mood.. but not sure it applies to a 125cc with learner plates!!

Have even joined the Sheffield and South Yorkshire Bikers Forum - have to admit for reasons that there may be some good looking birds riding bikes.. but probably a load of older fellas with chips in their beards is more likely!"

So I have told him to sign up to this forum, as even though he eventually wants to sell the Mustang and buy a Guzzi, I explained we are a friendly lot and can offer all sorts of advice, bad jokes and girls in burlesque outfits - which he definitely approved of.

He lives in Sheffield, so if anyone else is up that way let me know if you have a local meet where he can come and say hello.

Dunno about local meets (nearest to us is probably Squires or Matlock), but there are a few of us up here - myself and Dave20046 have even been known to ride bikes when the planets align closely enough to have both working at the same time.

Sheffield MAG meets on the 2nd and 4th Sundays, but that might be a bit heavy on the politicing than the social side. Sheffield bikers is a pretty good forum for local issues though, although I don't go on there much myself these days. As a target though, there is the easter run to the childrens hospital which I'm told will be on the 4th of April.

What can I say, you own a triumph and I'm a moron :smt102

I've never been (knowingly) out with the SYB lot but I've bought parts of one of the regulars and he was sound enough and almost got knocked off at mallory by one of them :smt081 Seem ok to chat too though.

One of them has just joined up with RAM, although I haven't spoken to him since he came out with us for a trial ride in the summer.
