Is truly awful... it just increases the grief and anger all round. Heather seems to be showing some encouraging signs so let`s hope she`s soon off the critical list and heading home x

Well I've no sympathy for the lad killed, the idiot shouldn't have been doing 3 times the limit in the town centre.

I hope Heather pulls through soon

I wish your friend a quick recovery DP. I can't believe how idiotic and selfish people are to speed on a stolen bike with disregard to others.

Really grinds my gears when I read about bikers doing things like this. And people often say in response "oh I suppose you never speed". Ofcourse I do, just not in built up areas and busy town centres :toss: I think the fact he was on a stolen bike tells you all you need to know about the kind of person he was (assuming he knew it was stolen?)

If you want to act like a tool on your bike then fine, but do it away from innocent bystanders who you might take with you

Reminds me of a young lad who passed away last year in Southport. Whilst I had the utmost sympathy for his family, I was just glad the numbnuts hadnt taken anyway out in the accident. He was 18, riding around on a Bandit 1200 that should have been restricted and wasnt. He apparently "liked his wheelies" and 1 of my mates said he'd sometimes go out not wearing a helmet. The speed of his collision obliterated a postbox. No other casualties in this case, thank god.

Sorry for the derail

Tbh, matters not if he knew it was stolen or not, he obviously knew it wasn't insured so shouldn't have been on it regardless and he was doing almost three times the speed limit in a town.

now my thoughts are with his family who must be in pieces atm and like everyone else i would like nothing better than to wave a magic wand and make everyones pain go away, yes he unfortunately had to pay the highest price for his mistake which is a shame most of us at some point have been lucky in one way or another, and have be able to learn from ours

so to finish rip young lad im sure your sorry for what damage youve caused and i for one can forgive it, may your lesson be learnt by others and do some good in the end

I hope your friend gets better soon to be with her friends and family over the Christmas season.

You have shown above that you are someone who is to be highly respected; regardless of how you felt at the beginning, you put it aside to acknowledge the life of someone else.

I for one applaud your sense of compassion to another, and am glad that you have found some peace in such a horrid situation.

He may not have known it was stolen, but he was "well known to Preston police", so you could probably draw enough conclusions from that.

Let's be honest, it's not like you need the brains of friggin Britain to decide if something is nicked or not.

I enquired about a bike for sale:
No log book (what's one of them mate?)
No keys, can be started with anything (he didn't seem suspicious about this)
No number plate (it's a field bike mate)

Of course I reported the ad to the police, not that I would get my hopes up about it ever getting back to the rightful owner.

Re: biker nearly killed my mate

Very true, 2bh when I bought my car I was guilty of not checking the VIN number but had a history check done. Checked over the V5 and away I went.

I only said that as a woman at my old work bought a mini cooper S in good faith and turned out to be a ringer, police came and :smt039 there goes £10k down the toilet. The scumbags had apparently done a fair few. Gave over pretty convincing documents and their work altering the VIN numbers was "impressive to the untrained eye"

Anytime i'm buying something like that, my instincts are if the price is too good to be true then usually the guys a feckin thief :p
