i think some of you are missing my point. if i wanted a faster bike yes i would buy a thousand, but at the moment i cant afford it. i dont want the nos for top end, i just want it for that initial kick for overtaking, which you kinda get with a thou, but not with smaller capacity bikes. getting from 70 to 100+ on the sv isnt brilliant, so say your on the motorway, someone doing 70, you want to get in front, instead of taking a millenium passing them, just a quick blip and your there. hey presto, the wonders of nos.

Once you've paid your £700 quid or so for a safe, insurable NOS fitting, plus the frankly ridiculous price for insurance (it WILL cost you a fortune), don't forget that filling your small 3lb NOS bottle after every 90 seconds or so of use will probably cost you £15 a time - that 1000 doesn't seem so far away all of a sudden.

Unless you were wanting to do it on the cheap, in which case you will end up with an uninsurable system, and you'll be forced to ride illegally if you want to use it.

NOS is never going to be practical for that, for it to be anything like economical you need a large bottle at home to decant into the bike bottle.

But if you're still keen then a system can be put together with industrial gas solenoids and other fittings. (Around £200 at a guess) and then you can jet it for whatever boost you want without going to fancy pulse controllers.

God are we still arguing about this, my interpretation on this is, insured (if possible) is ok! But like WRCsixtythree says the 1000 pricing doesn't seem so far away if you are spending that sort of money to fit and pay extra on insurance, andddd fill it up once used up. Good idea but frankly i'd go with the thou idea

Yep but have you tried knocking it down a gear, it'll pull alot better then in that kind of situation....

Or, rather than a thousand, buy a supersports 600 and that'll be faster. Or a 750, and that'll be faster too.

Or change the gearing then it'll pick up better at lower speeds as well as higher ones, you'd loose a bit of top end, but I found that my SV stopping pulling at 120 odd anyway and would take ages to go any faster...

Granted, the ss600 will be faster, but only when you have knocked it down
even more gears, which defeats his object of blipping the throttle to overtake.
The best way for this is Vtwin 1000 imo.
