Re: Vintage film cameras

Took the Kiev 88 for a spin today, the room I unloaded the film in wasn't sealed so I got some light leak when I dropped the film!

I also went to the charity shop with the film gear. Got a Watameter rangefinder for £4, a Minolta SR-M42 adapter, a Pentax shoe mount, and a 40.5mm yellow filter for £1 each, plus a Ricoh zoom lens, a stainless steel tank. I also shot a roll of colour through the Kiev, but that will have to be sent off.

Thanks. My arm was aching from lugging the 88 around. Hoping the light leak is from my mistake and not a leaky film back. 18 shots into my 2nd test roll for the L-CA, first one came out blank. Want to get that finished and try out a Kiev 4.

Johnny, don't you have a Mamiya Six? 163296939638

Yep, that's an old one for sure, the flash synch is built into the funny bar over the top of the lens. Mine is an Automat, but the lenses are etched by fungus.

Wasn't sure if the lenses were interchangeable.

I took your advice Kenzie and bought a roll of HP5 today. They had some Ilford pan 400 too, which I've never used before. Was thinking about it but a quick search seemed to imply it was quite grainy so I decided against it for now. I might give it a try later though if i go to any older, historic places.
Nothing much doing over here though I saw a couple of guys with cameras today; a Spotmatic and a Nikon so film is still alive over here too.

I quite like hp5, it seems to be my go to black and white film. Good grain and tones. I've tried a couple of rolls of Fomapan but I have yet to try any Kodak black and white.

The only B&W I've used is HP5 but it's very good. Kenzie - yep the lenses are but only between the non-Automat models
