a slide on ice is easily done .... it doesn't even count as a crash/off imo .....it becomes part of life when you use a bike all year round as your only form of transport .... lol well it has to my anyway .

Well I can understand that, the two bikes I have have been my only form of transport for work for the last four years. Unfortunately I go to work at stupid times, for instance 5am. When its really bad weather(thats snow drifts up the door, and sheet ice down the street) I have to pay for taxis, as buses don't run at that time of morning, and because its a weekend, at night they run at silly times. I'm lucky I haven't had the nasty falling on ice thing in all those years and believe me, living up here, at 5am.....there bleddy loads of it!
I pay £5 per trip to and from work.......I think I'd prefer to take your cheaper option of a bus, if it was available in winter personally.

As for the mum and dad thing, again, lucky you....wish I had mum and dad to lean on to help with my repair bills. Now you know why I have two bikes, if one don't work I get on the other....then I can still get to work, and earn the brass to pay for the repair of the other.

fixed :D did you forget the v raptor lol, even though you dont technically have it yet

and mum and dad are very obliging possibly because they had nothing and know how hard it is to grow up with nothing so they went the other way with me EG buying me a car (shed) for the winter possibly because my mum dosent want to get that "call" from the police

It's not about whose fault it is. It's about picking yourself up, getting on with it, and learning from it. Spending a load more money changing the bike is not going to stop it happening again.

I've crashed in slippery conditions too (at 55mph and a much bigger mess than your bike is in!), not my fault, but there was something I could have done to avoid it and I need to learn from it. In my case I could have taken the motorway to get to the same destination which would have been well gritted and not required any lean angles, and I have had to learn the hard way to avoid such roads in such conditions in the future. In Dizzy's case she learned the easy way and has never dropped the bike on ice, because she takes the bus or a taxi - which is a damn sight cheaper than 200 quid to fix the bike after a silly 5mph drop!

And I crashed going a bit faster than you and not doing as much damage, could have been avoided. Was just a lesson learned **** happens.
