Re: Anyone ever gone back to an sv?
I went from an SV to ZX6R to a Tuono and will never go back to an SV.

Now if Aprilia would make a 4 stroke RS400! |
Re: Anyone ever gone back to an sv?
I see the appeal of that type of bike, I don't see the fun in needing to crank your throttle fully for it to be entertaining. :)
I only got involved in this thread as you listed good aspects of the SV and said something along lines of 'what else is as good with similar power' and don't understand the need for the power caveat. You control the throttle at end of the day and you're potentially going same speed just with better everything else. :) SV is a cracking bike though. |

Re: Anyone ever gone back to an sv?
I change my mind about how soon Im chopping the SV in every hour of the day, for no other reason than to experience something different. Whether that be going really really fast in a straight line, experiencing the full on head rush of a litre bike accelerating to a bazillion mph, or having a laugh on a greenlaner, or seeing just how aweful the wind blast is on a naked.
Its not relevant whether I use the full power or potential of the bike or not really. Of course, financies dictate what I do more than anything else! |

Perhaps we should all get Honda C90's and go flat out everywhere;)

Re: Anyone ever gone back to an sv?
Interesting reading, I've been pestering the orgers about what to get next as well, although it looks like that's a bit further off. For me a much more powerful bike felt like I never touched the sides of it, and it does take something like a 750 or 1000 IL4 to have "proper" grunt after a twin. The closest thing I found was a Triumph 675, which prety much does it all plus a dollop more top end. Getting back on the SV after test riding it made the SV feel top-heavy and a bit clunky (although the Triumph is 10 years younger so ought to feel a bit more refined!). I would still worry about it falling to bits though. Getting off GSXR1000/750 and RSV1000 (twin) test rides, I didn't mind getting back on the SV. I even tried a R1200S and F800, but no. I think it's really only track days that have made me want something much more than the SV started life as, but on the road it's pretty hard to beat.

Re: Anyone ever gone back to an sv?
Every time we do the GM rides I come back and look at GSXR11s, daytonas, speed triples etc. and think yeah, flat out on some spot on sweepy twisties round there would be ace.
Then I ride around here for a week and decide that the 80bhp or so I've got in the SV is actually plenty. |
