Some exceptional weather around this weekend ahead of storm Isaac which is expected to cross the UK during Saturday and Sunday.

Initially, there are warnings of heavy snowfall for a time across Northern England and Scotland as the frontal system from Isaac pushes North-east against colder surface air.

Accumulations of up to 3-5cm are possible before a rapid thaw takes place later on Saturday.

Late on Saturday evening and into Sunday, severe gale force winds will pick up to the West of Ireland and Swing South-east across Southern Ireland, South Wales and South-west England.

Winds of up to 70mph with gusts of up to 90-100mph across exposed coasts brings the risk of structural damage along possible sea surge flooding on Sunday afternoon along North Cornwall as the winds combine with high tide around 4pm.

Mariners should be aware the sea state around much of Southern England will be rough or very rough throughout the warning period.
