Take out the front wheel of a pushbike and hold the axle. Give the wheel a good spin and then try turning it to the left. It will strongly lean to the right. Turn to the right and it leans to the left. I believe this is the gyroscopic effect referred to in an earlier post. Helped me to understand what is going on.
