Loss of Power and cutting out!

Just had a nightmare ride home from work, in rush hour so quite a bit of stand still traffic.

Basically the engine is vary noisy, lots of popping. Pull the throttle and very sluggish with hardly any power, then power will come back briefly and then gone again. Won't tick over so had to limp it home with alot of revs. At one point it cut out completely and I had to push to the side of the road and took a few goes and lots of throttle to get it going again.

Managed to get home (hope I haven't made it worse), checked the oil window which was fine. Dunno what else to check and Chris won't be home before dark.

Running on one cylinder perhaps?

Water in the front spark plug hole can cause funny runnings...

Doubt it's the front plug issue then, unless it's got wet recently and only just worked its way in...

No warning lights on the dash (if it's a pointy?)

Popping and odd running could be a loose tube around the carbs/fuel injection system

The oil symbol is an oil pressure light

It only illuminates when the oil pump is not providing the required pressure pushing oil around the engine

Therefore it will always be off when the engine isn't running

If it's on when the engine is running (apart from perhaps the first second or two after the engine starts) there's a problem and you shouldn't run the bike until it's sorted

Is that with the ignition on but without the engine running ?

Sounds like its only running on one cylinder from your description, but as to why I'm not sure.

Have you done anything to it, or made any changes or anything like that recently ?

Are you checking the oil level with the bike upright ? Or is it on the sidestand ?
