lemon or lucky
we shall shortly find out when I pick up the car I won at auction last night.
In an "that would only happen to you" type twist of fate I decided to bid (just the once) on a car I thought I had no chance of winning but would at least get me over the nerves of placing a bid. I bid first... and no fecker else did! So I now own a MASSSSSSSSSSSSIVE honda accord estate its pre-historic and high miles but then again it also has 10months tax and test, only one previous owner and a full honda service history, looks immaculate and the cam/timing gubbins was only done 6000mile ago during its last service. Oh and it only cost me £210 Anyone got experiance with these models? I've never even driven an Automatic before so this could be an interesting afternoon especially when my previous cars have all been 3door hatchbacks. Its the 1995 Honda Accord Aerodeck 2.0 LS Auto |
Re: lemon or lucky
have fun mate, petrol or deisel(sp)?
|
Re: lemon or lucky
Think Honda didn't do diesel in 1995 but I can be wrong. Anyway the 2.0 sounds like petrol.
|
Re: lemon or lucky
aye, petrol it is.
bloody hell 1995 thats a point I dont even know if it will have ABS or power steering. This afternoon promises to be interesting if nothing else. |
Re: lemon or lucky
Automatic is so easy - whack it in Drive, and just tuck your left foot away.
|
Re: lemon or lucky
just dont forget its automatic and slam the brakes on when you think you want to change gear haha
|
Re: lemon or lucky
haha, what a story, althought for £210 you can't really be bad to that, even if it is a heap of crap, you could probably sell it on as **** for more than £210 haha.
and as said, your left foot had better get used to being useless, unless you like the left foot braking, which i don't :) have fun and let us know what she's like |
Re: lemon or lucky
Just speaking to a friend who has an automatic and whilst he struggled with hysterics I heard him say "you should be allowed out in public unsupervised" Thought I should share that as it tickled me.
Dill - my thoughts exsactly, for £210 even if it only lasts until its next MOT I should be able to shop the parts or even the whole thing for a similar cost on evilbay especailly as there is one on there with similar miles age etc thats been wrapped round a lamppost over a week left on the auction and its already nearly £100 |
Re: lemon or lucky
Mate, if the engine starts ok from cold, sounds alright on tickover and sounds alright when you rev then you're quids in, just do a bit of pre-emptive surgery and change the sparkies, filters and oil and enjoy (hopefully) trouble free Honda ownership.
I bet it's a cracking ride, nice and smooth. Great cars, I had a 99 one so the shape after yours and it was a great car, all my mates called me grandad but I don't care. It was good for overtaking, ask El Saxo. |
Re: lemon or lucky
Mate's been driving Honda Accords since the mid 90's. Admittedly he's on his 5th(?) Accord but he swears by them. He racks up about 40k per year and changes his car every 2-3 years.
Sounds like a bargain. |
