Autumn ride out

Who’s on for an autumn ride? Sometime around 2nd Saturday in September so that folks who can’t get a day off in the week can come along. Schools will have gone back by then (in theory, and depending on the Covid19 situation).

Sounds good. I'll come along if free.

I'll be in Criccieth on holiday then (assuming no further lockdowns :-|) but I'll listen out for the distant thunder of bikes across the water :)

Bugger! Ah well enjoy yourself. I’ll try and get one sorted for when you’re about.

Chris, are you coming over for the ride just for the day or are you having slightly longer in Wales?

Long weekend, do my own thing on friday when off the boat, meet you chaps on sat, do my own thing sunday then go home

Re: Autumn ride out

Ok, great stuff. Reason I was asking was because you are coming across to L'pool I thought it would save you some riding miles to meet us if we had a run around N. Wales. However, as it's a Saturday the north is likely to be pretty busy so I think we'll go for some of the slightly quieter roads a little further south away from the main hotspots.

Depending what you have planned on where to stay Friday Chris and what time you arrive you could have a couple of longer rides 1) head up the M6 take A59 towards Clitheroe at J31 then follow signs for Trough of Bowland and have a nice ride through the Forest of Bowland AONB. 2) You could head for Matlock Bath and the famous cat and fiddle on the A537 and then check out bakewell and buxton in the Peak district. Or you could do some shorter/nearer stuff f.ex. head to chesire and oulton park or you could do some touristy stuff getting some pics at beatles sites penny lane, strawberry fields etc or some of the football murals if your a Liverpool fan :) though with the little ****s about I wouldn't recommend that on your own if I am honest.

I don't get paid if I do. Still self employed at that job, but soon to change hoepfully.

I've definitely got to work next weekend now. We've had someone drop out of his next two Saturdays... bit annoying.

Ok, definitely a weekday then I think. How about next week or the week after? What day do folks favour?

I can fit in around any day people want except Thursday next week. I'm taking Eleri up to Manchester on that day for the start of her uni course.

Re: Autumn ride out

I work every day (inc Sundays at the moment) but am flexible Monday and Wednesday (work from home self employed those days) but do normally do the school runs. I could try and see if my wife is working at home the day it happens and if she could do the school runs. Don't go out of the way to make it around those days though as I'm not sure if I can do it.

How does a Monday or a Wednesday sound with anyone else wanting to come along then? Either day is good for me.

Just been looking at a fantastic little road I've never been along before. It has to be visited!

Re: Autumn ride out

Let’s go for next Monday then shall we?

How do people feel about meeting at Oswestry? The reason I’m asking is because my mate Mick from Yorkshire “popped down for a cuppa and a ride” today and after meeting at Oswestry Morrison’s, we rode the route I’d like to do on Monday, and it included the back roads from Oswestry, through Llansilin and on to Llangynog. From there we carried on over the mountains via more little roads. And then we did some more little mountain roads, and followed it up with a few more little mountain roads. But we did finish it off with a blast back to Aberdyfi, Machynlleth and on to Llanfair Caereinion.

You’ll need to like riding on little mountain roads I think. The advantage is that they were pretty much empty and the views are absolutely jaw dropping.

You’ll also need to like gates. Lots of them. Sorry.

Monday is good and so is Oswestry.
