OK, here it is. After having a few hours of chat with the Preston Dave, we have decided on rules, date and route.

1. £300 maximum purchase price. If you wish to buy new tyres fair enough, these are not in the budget cap. MOT price is in the cap as it is a requirement for a roadworthy bike but tax is not in the cap.

2. Minimum cc. 125, no maximum cc limit but keep in the spirit of the event, its not supposed to be a simple cruise to Spain, buy something fun!

3. Route. Motorway avoidance as much as possible, if its raining in the UK we will use them so we get to the ferry asap. Will show routes in another post.

Possibly going to take 4 days to travel there. People not wishing to ride their bikes back can sell/scrap them in Spain and fly back from Alicante but must make their own arrangements.

We are hoping for a man and a van to be with us for the trip, all offers accepted :)

Ferry prices and accommodation costs will be posted when we have a better idea of numbers as DP`s Spanish gaff may not be big enough for us so bigger place may be aquired.

ALL BIKES MUST BE LEGAL AND ROADWORTHY FOR THE BEGINNING OF APRIL. We would like to get all participants together for a photo shoot to try and drum up some support for charity.

Anyone wishing to come on their own proper bike are more than welcome.

As long as trike is finished i will be accompnaying as i wanted to do a long ride across to spain but with dave on a big bike he would be too fast, on old sheds more my speed, also i can take tools and ots such handy stuff:)

Still keen but I need to seriously get looking for a bike. I was thinking it was 125 money but bigger bikes seem to be the order of the day.

I don't want to get left behind by all these other sporty models. :)

Still, that leaves 25 to cover all the consumables that would be needed to get the bike running, but I reckon thats only just enough for an oil and filter change.

Aye that's the problem. I can buy any number of bikes under £300. It's having enough change left to get them on the road that's difficult.

I'm going on an Italjet Jupiter 250 scoot that will "cruise" at 60-65 so don't fret about keeping up. Anyway we'll catch up each time the sporty lads break down.:joker:

Nope, both of those attributes would suggest simple construction and ruggedness. Which are not present, not even a little bit.

Perhaps my (justified) fear about having to tow a 125 and an irishman all the way from the end of Dave's road to Spain are unjustified and he's bought something decent...
