Not too late

No doubt people are thinking "This looks good, wish I'd got this organised". It's not too late! 2 years ago, I decided to go on the monday before the AR, from a different country :smt080 And last year, I binned the bike the weekend before and had to spend the next 4 days frantically hitting it with a hammer, finding and making new parts, and respraying the whole front end, the bike went back together at 1am on the friday morning, we left at 9am

In fact, this year I'm going, but I don't seem to have organised anything! So, you're no worse off than me, in fact, chances are you're coming from closer. So, don't think "It's too late", because if you do then soon it will be. But not yet.

That is all.

Well said mate. Looking forward to seeing you again.

And to everyone reading this who thinks it's too far, it's a fair old trek for me, but Northy's got some real distance to cover.

So don't be a big bunch of wussies... make some effort.

Now now northy, that's not strictly true is it. I seem to remember me and blue flame sitting at the starting line trying to phone you, eventually blue flame got through, and you were still attacking your bike, spanner in hand fixing something that broke off just as you were about to leave... fixed half an hour or so later, so was more down to the last minute.

As for everyone else, have fun and I'll hopefully see some of you at the Ecosse Massacre !!!

Last year Sparkly Girl (Anna) wasn't going as she had a busted bike and couldn't get the time off anyway (much like this year :( ) two days before she found out she could get the time off, the bike was repaired (about two weeks normal work) in 48 hours (admittedly with a couple of semi-pro botches) and didn't miss a beat all weekend, think it was a cat C write off.

so as Andy says, never to much or to later, anything is possible (well OK if before Wednesday  ).

Cheers Mark.

well I'd say 250 odd miles with a walking stick strapped to your back is bloody marvellous, cause this time next month my beloved will have had his hip replaced......he doesn't want to let me down....and TBH would rather endure the agony to have a flippin good pish up in cider county than sit at home and me have a good time without him!!

and he won't be the only one going to all that effort either

So if you think its still to far away peeps...........what he said...bunch o wussies:pirat:

Last year I finally got the SV (Now stolen) fixed on the Thursday afternoon.

I used the work bike to ride to Bristol to get a set of calipers from www.svspares.com, rode back to Crystal Palace, fixed them on, left the work bike at CP and rode the SV back home to Staines (About 8pm), packed a bag, slept and was at the Ace for 8am!!

The shakedown run was The Ace to the campsite!

WOW.....where are you coming from?

Re: Not too late

Hi Dizz, Corse or Cosaca, depending on where ur from. Is the large French island in the med. Sort of side ways from palma. But Im on a boat [yep the sig is my dad infront of the "work place"]
I live in Antibes which is between Cannes {film show place} and Monaco {GP type stuff} So work {boat} tends to drive up and down between them. Its a local train ride as well Cannes>Monaco about 25 miles in a line or 60 by road.
So I just need a place park a boat for a few days while I come up. As it can't move with out me, and finding a place to park a 200ft boat is not the easyist thing. :(
And no I just drive it. Its a bit out of my reach. I do have a 4 ft remote control one which I never use.:pirat:

I hope its not to sunny when I get there. Im red from to much and the summer hasn't even kicked in. Me thinks its going to be a very very hot this summer. :sunny::sunny::sunny:

Re: Not too late

Anastasia is in my back garden and last week I should have worked on her, but only got a few things sorted, front brakes, alarm and put the carbs on. Other things came up plus I got a new Xbox game, such a silly thing to do, just got so distracted with it!

Now I have to do to get her to the AR is, remove swing arm, fit chain (its in one loop), fit swing arm and exhaust, cut out and fit undertray, tidy electrics, swap tyres for legal ones, fit plastics and strip, clean and rebuild the rear caliper. Plus optional re-spraying of all panels and tank. Once that is done I need to MOT, tax and insure the bike, if not prep Helga for the journey, which means clean and rebuild the rear caliper, change the fork oil and get a MOT.

All this and I havent even checked if the tent is OK and water-proof from the last time I used it. Plus I'm not sure I have enough cash to Tax, MOT and ininsure her, so it might all be a waste of time.

Ah, that's a grievous tactical error- never ask for a day off unless you know you'll get it. Once you've asked for the day off and been refused, you can't be "ill", it's the law. Shame though, you're on my list of .organists that I want to meet.

yup, I did all that once - got quite awkward when I wasn't answering my home phone & wouldn't give out the landline of where I was supposedly recuperating

Phoning in sick from the toilets at knockhill before a trackday = fail. "What was that in the background?" "Boy racers outside my window"

I can beat that.

Pawel, one of our guys here is Polish.

Got an email to the office one day declaring he was working from home.

Somone had to call him, and realised that they were getting an international dialing tone.

Yep, he was working from home, just not the one he usually lives at in London :)

No-one had seen that loophole - so he got away with it :)
