WhiteWater Rafting Trip

Several folks have expressed an interest in trying white water rafting. We are lucky in the BP area in that we have a year round facility at Canolfan Tryweryn near Bala. My daughter is a raft guide at the center and so I can arrange a trip for everyone if there is enough interest.

So folks, who's up for this?

EDIT: Have added a poll of possible dates. It is a multiple choice poll, so tick all the weekends you can make. The results are public so you can see who is going on which weekends if you really want to be with someone.

Re: WhiteWater Rafting Trip

You can sit in the bailer bucket....... So that still leaves 8 seats in one raft! :joker:

Love to, but cant swim, well maybe 10 ft but thats it :)

Re: WhiteWater Rafting Trip

No need to be able to swim Stewie, the raft guides get beasted for losing clients over the side. Also the river is only about 15 foot wide and two feet deep, but you need to take heed of safety briefing about standing in fast water....

Would be no problem for a non-swimmer and is also a great family day out (cos the missus can sit in the cafe and watch you go by, while laughing at your folly :D)

am scoping out interest at the moment. My daughter will get back to me with dates she is working, so she can be your guide. you can then all tip heavily, cos she is a poor student.

Will post up a poll of possible dates.

What time do these things start and finish? Will it be a Saturday or a Sunday?

A weekend sounds good.:-D

Depends on session length (2 hour or 4 hour I believe) which is dependant on how much you wanna spend.

I would say 2 hour session will be enough for folks to get knackered. That should be 3 runs down the river. We can be a little picky about start time as Lowri will be our guide. She is seeing if she can do a deal with the centre.

Perhaps we will have enough interest for more than one raft or more than one session with non-rafters cheering from the cafe....

Re: WhiteWater Rafting Trip

I'd be up for that, but the only date that'd be any good for me is the 5th/6th as it's my leaving p**s up the following weekend and after that, I'm in training.

Lissa 29-01-08 07:00 AM

Re: WhiteWater Rafting Trip

The only problem I can see with the 5/6th is it's the weekend after NW3...............may be just a bit to close to that for some people.:(

Luckypants 29-01-08 09:08 AM

Re: WhiteWater Rafting Trip

Well that's why there's a date poll Lissa! Folks can vote for when then want to come as is most suitable for them. I'll probably pick the one with most votes, to ensure we can fill the raft and keep the cost down.

Whether folks come for the day or the weekend is up to them and we can discuss that a bit later.

Yes, but knowing what numpties all you guys are, I wasn't sure you'd realise the first date was only a week after NW3:p

Us women, of course, realised instantly:D
