Here ya go, a nice new sticky chat thread for posting just about anything. Normal rules apply i.e within the U rating, no abusing other users etc etc

DD, thanks very much! Much appreciated 8) You know that you're local to WayneL and Thunderace who are also in Aldershot??

dirtydog 04-06-12 08:53 AM

Re: GM chit chat thread

Yeah have had a PM convo with WayneL who's not far from me.
Where abouts is thunderace

Hopefully get the SV back on the road soon. Not been MOT'd for about 3 years now! Since its last MOT it's gained a GSXR750 front end and an Elka rear shock

DJ123 04-06-12 08:57 AM

Re: GM chit chat thread

Not sure where Thunderace lives, i only know it's Aldershot

3 years! Time to get it back on the road then ;) What type/model have you got? Gixxer front end v nice, i'm considering it for mine when i decide how long i am keeping it for.

Mines a curvy S. bought by the other half (Kithat) new in 2001 and then acquired by me about 4 years ago when I bought kitkat a Raptor 1000.
Was originally pearl lively yellow but is now Shimmerin green. Showing about 35k miles now.

In my defence I've not been off the road for those 3 years as I had a Benelli Tornado for a little while

Here it is

And yes the wheels are still mismatched like that, still trying to decide what colour to paint them!

Re: GM chit chat thread

Like a Kwak Green?

dirtydog 04-06-12 09:36 AM

Re: GM chit chat thread

Darker than kwak green, that picture was taken in the shade so doesn't do it justice really.

Been the last few years with having a baby (now 3 1/2) and busy lately with a mk2 xr2!

DJ123 04-06-12 09:48 AM

Re: GM chit chat thread

That looks good 8) i like the look of that. I bet it eats corners better than before with the suspension set up

dirtydog 04-06-12 09:50 AM

Re: GM chit chat thread

It should do, I've not ridden it in anger since fitting the rear shock

Bordtea 04-06-12 04:40 PM

Re: GM chit chat thread

Thats one hell of a bright wheel!

Nick_69 05-06-12 08:19 AM

Re: GM chit chat thread

I actually like the colour of that bike and i think the wheel is ace

dirtydog 05-06-12 10:59 AM

Re: GM chit chat thread

The green is much nicer and brighter in sunlight.

Wheels will either be silver to match the frame or black

Nackered, a long good weekend on the bike. This week is new front discs and pads for the bike, then hopefully a weekend of wearing them in (weather prevailing)

It's not a bike unless it's running on the road. Hurry Up!!!! ;-)

Well it's running! Loads of work on at the moment so finding time to get it MOTd etc is proving difficult. On the flip side all the work means extra dosh to pay for the MOT and tax

Yes I have Buffalo gloves. I find the fingers fine, very comfortable in fact.

The only thing I didn't like was the thin velcro strap that went around the wrist, so I cut it off. I still use the thick velcro strap of course.

Other than that I find the gloves very good. They are summer gloves out of interest.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
Wayne

Ey up Wayne, thought it better to reply to the above in here so i dont derail the other thread. I've got the Bays as below:

http://www.glmsales.co.uk/lg_images/...-Bay-Glove.jpg

Im on my second replacement pair in a month because of the stitching round the outside seam on the fingers coming away? My finger tips get squashed numb by the weird stitching (seam sewn round the outside of the fingers) and dont know anybody else with the same glove. Ive been and got some Tuzo TZ10's and they do fit like a glove. Maybe i will give the Buffalo Bays another try and see if they give a bit.

Re: GM chit chat thread

And brake pads?

Fallout 21-06-12 11:29 AM

Re: GM chit chat thread

Yeah, and new brake pads. Forgot how ****e they are when they're new. Squeeeeeeeeeeze harder (wayhey). Hopefully they'll wear in and the mechanic didn't do something stupid like bleed out all my brake fluid.

Also bought some RST trousers so I can finally stick my budget ones in the wardrobe, and a tail bag ... plus some oil to apparently help clean my downpipe (doubt it!).

DJ123 21-06-12 06:58 PM

Re: GM chit chat thread

yeah, after a few miles they'll bed right in. Think mine are just about bedded in now.
You really did go 'shopping' then, what did you get a tail pack for when you have that tank bag ;)

Fallout 22-06-12 10:25 AM

Re: GM chit chat thread

Well, to transport my new trousers home, obviously! :D Nah, I figured the more storage the better. Should avoid me having to wear a backpack in future.

Re: GM chit chat thread

always best to stack the bike with luggage than the rider

Fallout 22-06-12 06:52 PM

Re: GM chit chat thread

True that. The only thing is, the bungees wore away a bit of paint work where I clipped them on. Will need to find a better connection point.

Tomor 22-06-12 09:51 PM

Re: GM chit chat thread

Get some wide clear tape and stick that over your fairings. then the bungees wont scratch :) problem solved

If you use selotape parcel tape (other brands are available) it's very cheap. AND to make it easier to get off, put some wax polish on the paintwork first but don't rub it off. Then it sticks enough to protect the paintwork but not so well that it's a bugger to get off and/or takes your stickers off.

Re: GM chit chat thread

get the rubber netting style stuff and put it under the tailpack with over hang on the sides where the bungies are against the bodywork. The bungies will still rub through the tape/clear plastic.
this stuff or similar: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorcycle...item45ff8d9e57

I use the same material. My better half bought it to line the kitchen draws.

Problem with the rubber mesh is if you get any grit in there eg, riding through rain on muddy roads, the rubber holds it and it will also eat through your paintwork pretty effectively. Best bet is both rubber mat and tape (tape under rubber) but depends how precious you are about the paintwork.

I did 1500 miles in bad weather through France with the sellotape method and suffered no damage or rub through at all.
