Re: Dicky Ticker
Early on Thursday 26th June, we received a call that sadly Mac had passed away whilst visiting friends in Liverpool.
Mac had been unwell for some time, but had taken a turn. He passed away in hospital. Mac had been a dear friend to a great many members of this forum, indeed he was one of the oldest in age, and oldest in time served here. A great many people have lost one of the kindest and funniest guys from their lives. His group of close friends here stretched far and wide. Pegasus has lost his best friend, and what can only be described as a big brother or surrogate dad. Mac has seen Pete through some extremely difficult times and shared some fabulous journeys both in life and out on the road. He will be truly missed. https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...26856695_n.jpg If I could quietly request the respect and privacy of Macs relatives and close friends at this time, I would be grateful. Many thanks. |
Re: Dicky Ticker
Well said.

Re: Dicky Ticker
First chap I met when I turned up at my first org meet many moons ago, thoroughly decent bloke.
RIP Dicky Ticker ..may the roads be long and glorious! |
Re: Dicky Ticker
I was sat in Green Park last night with CMSD2 in the sunshine and we were chatting about regional meets. I said Mac was the one who would post up for a Sunday morning Essex bimble and how I'd done some good rides (and fry ups) with him but hadn't seen him yet this summer. How sad to see the news just a few hours later that he has gone.
Always great company, a proper gent with his lovely accent and big smile. I shall raise a glass this weekend in memory of a top chap. |
Re: Dicky Ticker
A great man who'd do anything for anybody and when the phone rang and his number came up you knew you'd be chatting for an hour. Still riding around on a comical little 125 he left the stage while life was still giving him rapturous applause. Goodnight Mac old chap, see you on the other side.

Re: Dicky Ticker
Mac was the first person I met from the SV.org he introduced me the Essex Loungers.
We covered many miles, cafes and numerous cups of tea and toast together. He would often turn up and persuade me to come out for a midweek ride when I should have been working! ;) He "babysat" me when I got back on my bike after my illness and became firm friends with my old man. He often popped in for tea and chats - lived a couple of streets away from us - we'll both miss him :( |
Re: Dicky Ticker
I'm sorry to read this, Mac was a laugh on the times I met him and always had something positive to say.
He'll be greatly missed by many, myself included. Jambo Sent without a real keyboard |

Really sorry to hear this, nice guy always ready to help. What a character.

Re: Dicky Ticker
Perhaps Dizzy would be kind enough to post up details of the funeral if Mac's family are happy to have his biking friends attend. I would certainly like to have the opportunity to say farewell to a fine man if I'm able to. And also if they are collecting for a charity in his memory, or if not perhaps people would like to give a little donation to somewhere like the British Heart Foundation, as with a forum name like Dicky Ticker I reckon Mac would have appreciated that gesture.
