I hope so ,was fantastic last year. We were lucky with the weather though - which added to the enjoyment.

Good plan - you want to keep those triumph riders away, they're a bad influence.

Yeah lets do it, sadly I'm too busy with uni stuff to organise it again :-(

Twas about March time this year wasn't it?

I'd like to say yes, as it was brill this year, but I can't say for sure, as I have far too many other things to do. Would be last minute....and I promise not to get cross, as I can drink as much as I please this time :-)

:D

It was mid to late february IIRC, I had a freshly rebuilt bike that somehow managed all weekend. Only made it thanks to yowkie C's SV support line.

Re: Are we doing a hardy bikers new year ride this year?

Time to stir it up a bit further - is there anything we want to change from last years?

Only thing I'd like to change is my bike (check) and possibly a Friday night arrival.

Re: Are we doing a hardy bikers new year ride this year?

I'd leave it alone, one nighter is fairly cheap and not too much preparation needed.

Re: Are we doing a hardy bikers new year ride this year?

The backpackers was ideal, only 'the lads' need to remember they are sharing with other guests apart from us, when they have had a skinful, the owner did say we were welcome back next time, when I spoke to him in the morning after the night before.
Route...super.
Bike...yup as with Orose, change me bike to the proper SV and I'm happy as larry :-)

Re: Are we doing a hardy bikers new year ride this year?

That is only problem, tent is well out because it would be bloody freezing and no warm place to socialise.

Maybe find a bunkhouse we could have to ourselves so as to avoid interruptions to the boozing?

Re: Are we doing a hardy bikers new year ride this year?

Yup, I'll be up for it......

*Goes off to google Ambleside bunkhouses*

I can't even remember what town we were in last time... we might be basing ourselves miles away, so you'll need to get ripped off all over again ;)

Yes it was ambleside last time

orose 08-12-09 06:16 PM

Re: Are we doing a hardy bikers new year ride this year?

So the place pmapp suggested is in an entirely separate town, about 3 miles away as the crow flies (10 by bike)

Re: Are we doing a hardy bikers new year ride this year?

If we used the backpackers again, all the types of food and ale to choose from is only a step away.
The indian place me, Quiff, Mandy and Bluepete was top notch. Even had its freshly dead pigeons on its doorstep:smt107

Have you tried Sykeside & Brothers Water, top of the struggle.
Bluepete and a few of us stayed there for a ride out a couple of years back.

Re: Are we doing a hardy bikers new year ride this year?

Depending on whether it falls on a rest day, I'll be up for it again. Might do an overnighter this time as its always a pain having to come away from a good day.

It was Mid-February last time if I remember as it was my first proper ride on the Versys.

orose 09-12-09 06:04 PM

Re: Are we doing a hardy bikers new year ride this year?

Last year was the 21st of Feb - I went and looked it up the other day to work out where the proposed bunkhouse is in relation to last years.

I don't know if the sykeside place would accept us - it looks like they don't want groups of more than 6 adults (including under different names). That may only be for camping though.

Re: Are we doing a hardy bikers new year ride this year?

Sykeside let 9 of us stay in the bunkhouse for the second N/S at the same time there was a few other bikers (Bunch on LC's etc). So I would say they were definitely group and biker friendly.

Who knows you might even get a titty flash.

Yeah, but has she got over you flashing your moobs at her?

Edit, I forgot Sykeside don't like you drinking too loudly after the bar shuts.
