Brands Hatch Indy - April 24th
 

All,
I was going to do this with a few people that hadn't done a track day before, and we were told there were only a few places left. Turns out there were more than we were informed at first so if anyone else can get in go for it!

So far everyone's in Novice, but if you want to turn up and go in a group that suits you better go for it :)

hmmmm... tempted!!

Wanted to do brands as my "first one" last one was 2 years ago at Lydden... might wait until the end of the season though when i am a little more confident!

Quite a few people are coming already. If you want to do it I'd get in fast as I haven't actually checked the availability since the tail end of last week.

It's a good first track, or first track in a while.....

Had a chat with James and i am going to do one a little later in the year... want to get out riding again first.. especially in leathers as i lose a lot of my height in leathers :( so need to get confident riding in them.

and no... i'm not just making excuses!!

We are all supposed to be in novice, however, Focused Events seem to have been filling total places rather than filling places in each class. So it's possible they'll shuffle those of us who have done it before I guess... Some were slightly more economical with the truth than others when asked for previous experiance:D

I have completely given up on asking them if there's space, they keep telling me there's one space left, but we've put about 8 people in that one last spot so far.....

Glad you're booked up anyway, if anyone else fancies it, it seems to still be worth calling!

Really looking forward to this after missing Silverstone, although I discovered today that my right front brake caliper has totally seized so I'll have to replace it before the 24th. I've found a rather blingy set of gold spot '03 R1 calipers (direct replacement) which I am now forced to buy :D

Oh, and Emma (t'other 'alf) will be joining the support crew too \\:D/

I would like too, but its not worth it for me, I would have days off work (working nights that week) So I can't even come to watch, if I did I wouldn't sleep for 2 days! so use 2 1/2 days leave, plus had a few set backs. There is plenty of time....Its looks like there is lots of chances for track days this year:D

Cool about the extra support crew, we seem to be growing an arsenal of photographers and good looking pit crew / brolly babes. It's all coming together rather nicely!

Indeed!!! Emma has promised to be my brolly dolly.......I don't think she realises yet what is expected :D

Turns out it'll be cheaper to buy the R1 calipers......ish......than buying new seals and potentially new pistons.....and it means I'll have a spare set to play with/sell down the line.

EDIT -> OOOO, and the R&Gs will hopefully turn up tomorrow :safe:

Sounds good, obviously I won't be able to wear them while I'm on track (bloody health and saftey), however, I don't remember giving you my dress size, a one size fits all for me and Jamie may not work out so well....

Brands hatch are running a 105dB limit on the day, they say every bike will be static tested for noise, but I've never seen that yet on a trackday. The coment below is from Andrew who's turning up on his Guzzi, anyone know if he's likley to have a problem?

Focused Events static tested everyone on my Brands Indy day last year, not sure if that was the circuit telling them to do it, or something they do themselves though.

Standard cans got through without a test though.

Depends on what Andrew means by "Slightly loud" :)

They ran the ACU system for noise when I was tested, so 600's had to rev to a higher level than litre bikes..... some f***ing noisy bikes were out on track that day too......

Well, finally grew the stones to tell the girly I was doing this last night, and I'M STILL ALIVE!

of course, she may poison my dinner between now and then...

but so far so good!

I'd like to publicly state that I will not be trying to beat anyone there, I don't wanna race, all I'm doing is trying to learn what the bike can do. If you pass me on a lap, please don't come up to me and gloat afterwards. I'm trying to avoid my almost inevitable red-mist problem!
