Hi mate,

Just had a read at that thread and can safely say "Well Done". At the end of the day, none of us want you OR ANYONE ELSE for that matter making bike-shaped holes in hedges rideout or otherwise.

You're speed will probably creep back up a bit again (if indeed it's that bad), but at the end of the day only a healthy serving of caution and calculation is going to stop you running wide into something hard or fast-moving.

I don't think we're going to think any less of you for that - probably quite the opposite.

Garry;)

Nah, you're just getting old mate. ;)

Not so bad when you consider the alternative...

What have you got to prove--NOTHING. Just enjoy getting out on your bike and enjoying the other pleasures in live,it doesn't always have to be an andrenilin rush

Upsettingly noisy, hugely unpredictable and very, very expensive.

Why not get a Ducati instead?

The Duke is only slightly cheaper option that you can sell later by legal means when it leaves you skint! :smt003

and babies have that extremely odd rattling round, i think its their dry clutch.

Ducatis on the other hand, need to be toilet trained!

Re: Are babies messing with my head?

You'll notice I've asked for a volunteer to lead the Glencoe massacre Sunday rideout, in case your interested this is why...

I'm doing a good mileage in all weathers because my car is off the road, about 2000 miles since posting this thread.

I have the odd good spot where the road is dry and my head is clear and I can blat along nicely and enjoy the ride, but I have other times when the problem is getting worse and my riding is a TOTAL mess! Particularly when I'm trying to enjoy myself have a wee blat down a twisty road. Stood the bike up mid corner today, I never do that! I'm grip paranoid even in the dry, I see every imperfection in the road surface and end up watching the road 5 feet in front of me, and I'm counter leaning and taking corners like a newbie. Pulse starts racing for no bl00dy reason every time I make a mess of something. I feel like a frightened newbie!

Who knows maybe I'll be back in the zone by August, back tyre is well squared off and maybe thats not helping, but usually I would just accept that the handlings a bit crap and get on with it. Maybe my car accident isnt helping with it being a diesel spill that caused it.

Anyway, I don't enjoy riding messy, so today I decided I'm just going to relax and ride easy until I'm riding natural again, so I'm not able to lead a rideout where we are hosting folk from England who don't know where they are going. In that circumstance the front end needs to be setting the pace.

I know I don't have to be belting along all the time, but thats one of the things that usually brings a grin to my face when riding a bike. Not bringing a big grin at the moment though. Sorry for moaning, but I'm a bit pi$$ed off!

we can have a few leaders maybe. everyone has their favourite bit of road. I would imagine the visitors will want to have a few bits of the route when the pace is easier for a nosy about, but other bits (thru Glencoe) there is scope for a real hammer.

if im there I will lead the way at the wibbly wobbly maybe (not dukes) but I dont know whats happening as flat not sold - so could be there (dean and anyone else can crash at mine) if it does sell it depends on travelling from hants and getting someone to have kids. as soon as I know anything definite Ill let you know.

cheer up ralph, things will get better

Maybe get the new back tyre. Then you will have a great handling bike again but be forced to go out and run it in for a few miles at a slower pace and thus you will be a bit more relaxed........(for 15mins anyway!:p )

For me getting a move on with a squared off rear and less than perfect road conditions is not much fun. Like riding on marbles when turning in.Roads covered in shiite.:shaking:

Your riding is also becoming more all-round by the sound of it. Riding in poor conditions, so more hazards, more chance of having a "moment", look at it like a bigger challenge? Pick your times and roads for going bok?

Sounds just like a bout of SAD! (Seasonal Affected Disorder). You need some sun and dry roads. Try Mexico:wink::)

Failing that.......

Take a drink.........:smt045:p

Re: Are babies messing with my head?

The responsibilities of parenthood, confrontation with the dreaded diesel resulting in your accident and the "Been there got the T shirt" syndrome, getting older and not having the need, all in the back of your mind.
We all have good days and bad days driving/riding, the subconscious plays a big part in how we approach life and believe me it is much better to relax and enjoy things rather than try and push yourself to your limits.
Better to arrive a minute later and safe------------Somebody else has bought your tea then:D
