'Humph'
I had the pleasure of seeing him host IMIHAC last month, and hearing him play at the end. :( One of Britain's national treasures AFAIK.

Re: 'Humph'
I really liked "I'm sorry I haven't a clue" and it won't be the same without him. Wonderful man and superb player.

Bugger.

Re: 'Humph'
Just read his obitury on the Guardian website, and noticed it was by George Melly. I guess he must have written it a little while back  They must be getting ready for a great party upstairs  Well as the vanquished charwoman of time begins to shake-n-vac the shagpile of eternity, I've noticed that we've just run out of time... |

I remember listening to the show with my dad when I was a kid. Very funny man, a great loss. |
Re: 'Humph'
In his obituary he had apparently turned down a knighthood

The lovely Samantha will be left with a large hole in her life.
It will be hard to replace a man like Humph. |
Re: 'Humph'
One of the gems of life, can't replace them, just have to wait for the next gem.

Re: 'Humph'
This is a real shame. I love Life in a Glass House by Radiohead.

Re: 'Humph'
There's a tribute on Iplayer. 1 hour about this truly deserving man.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/ The clips from ISIHAC are from the Cardiff performance I was at. He was tremendous. |
