Rockingham - September

Hi all,

G mentioned previously about doing another trackday in September and the date of 21st was mentioned for Rockingham National circuit. I could do that date but my preference would actually be next Sunday, the 14th September. Same circuit, same noise limits (105dB - you ok with that G?! :p), same price.

http://www.trackdays.co.uk/tracks/rockingham.htm

Anybody up for this?

If more people want to do the 21st I'll do that :smt026

Cheers,
Matt

Who running the day on Saturday 14th, is there many spaces left with it being so soon.

Re: Rockingham - September

Looks like 'No Limits'

http://www.nolimitstrackdays.com/aca...Nat140908.html

And they are letting you input stuff in all groups still so I presume that means there's spaces? Maybe have to wait for confirmation though - I'll try giving them a call at lunch

EDIT: It's the Sunday, not the Saturday

Doh, so it is.

I can do either the 14th or 21st, either is fine with me.

Weather looks like it may be ok for this weekend anyway.

If we can get 5 people together before booking we might get a little bit of discount.

Cool, shall we do the 14th and if it's good / if we win the lottery do the 21st too?! :p

Obviously, being my first TD, I'll be booking in novices - you doing inters G?

Nope novices for me too, never been to Rockingham in my life.

You waiting to book to see if there is anymore interest or just booking and did you get a chance to ring them to see how many places are left?

Edit - I'm gonna try ring them to find out how the day works with it being a sunday as well, doesnt start till 10 looking at the website.

Hi mate, work went manic I'm afraid so I didn't get chance to ring them earlier I am happy to book it and go if you are?

Text me to let me know if you're gonna book and I'll book too - I've just been through the website and it seems easy to book direct online and I guess you can over the phone too - I'll take their number so I can ring them and hopefully book tomorrow,

No Limits number : 01727 899173

Cheers,
Matt

I'd love to do the 14th, but I'll be at a wedding on the 13th (one of the No-Limits instructors called Ratty is marrying my idea of the perfect woman) so I doubt if me, him or Danny (another NL instructor mate) will be there because at least two of us will be suffering hangovers, and the other one will be suffering from multiple stab wounds if he even thinks about it.

Re: Rockingham - September

I gave them a ring, they have about 9 places left in novices, loads in other groups and dont expect them to sell out.

Looking at the forecast I'm tempted to wait another day before booking as I dont fancy rockingham in heavy rain . By tomorrow or thursday the forecast should be more accurate.

They did said they wouldnt be noise testing though.

carty 09-09-08 08:23 PM

Re: Rockingham - September

I rung them too and got the same message

You're right, we should get an idea of the forecast for Sunday by tomorrow. If the weather's looking rubbish - go for the next weekend?

Cheers,
Matt

Metcheck now says its going to be good weather but it changes quite often, others say light rain but dont update as often as metcheck.

I dont think we should leave it much later that today to book, possibly give it until tomorrow lunch time, but others are probably doing the same as us and watching lol.

Weather looks ok to me - I still haven't booked it cos I'm scared of going to my first trackday on my own  :D

Cool, they said sign-on was from 8:30am to 9:30am. I plan to be there for about 8-8:15am so I can get the panic over with.

Funny but I'm more nervous about going on a track here than I was about the Nurburgring, even though that's notorious for crashes, etc!

G 10-09-08 03:11 PM

Re: Rockingham - September

I'll be there about the same time, maybe abit earlier incase they decide they are noise testing afterall and I have to swap my exhausts over before the first session.

My kerry should be coming so we will have somewhere to stash stuff if your girlfriends isnt.

As for nerves, they wear off pretty much as soon as you leave the pitlane and you realise your actually a crap load safer than on the road.

Cheapest petrol at Asda half a mile past the left turn into the circuit.

Wife mate, she doesn't let me forget it! :p

Yeah, Laura should be coming - I think she'll come down in the car a bit later though and take some piccies, etc. Should be a cracking day, just got to pray for the weather! :smt026

Wife  kerry keeps nagging ;)

Apparently the national circuit is done clockwise, not anti clockwise....its the international that is done anticlockwise apparently....so I wont be wobbling around all the left handers thankgod.

Anyone else booked or thinking of booking.

Metcheck and The Weather Channel say good weather.

Still a few spaces left.

(Not trying to dissuade anyone) BBC shows a bit of rain, but they ALWAYS get it wrong. Booger, that's jinxed it!

G, I'm going to borrow my Dad's video camera too hopefully so we should be able to get some video footage (assuming there's spectator viewing spots?!)

G 11-09-08 02:12 PM

Re: Rockingham - September

Rockingham is supposed to be amazing for spectator....as in you can see all of it.

The weather will do what it wants to do, Metcheck and The weather channel seem the most accurate.

The BBC was getting a slating yesterday for having different forecasts on there website, to the TV new and what was being said on the radio. All were saying different.

Re: Rockingham - September

you can see the whole track from the stands (not sure if these are open during track days though). it's been a couple of years since i went, but i think you can still see most of the track from the top of the pit garages.

Went out for the first time in 3 weeks last night for a couple of hours, never felt so damn wobbly LOL started getting into things again by the end of the ride.

Need to play with my front suspension sunday morning though I think its to hard doesnt feel very planted.

Weather is looking damned good on Met office, Metcheck and The Weather Channel  BBC hasnt updated online but the radio said a dry weekend for most.

You can see most of the track from the Pit Garage roof. Take supplies - Drinks machines are like lottery tickets and it's a bit of a walk to the Diner which only opens at specific times.

Cheers, Kerry has been dissapointed in the past with how little she could see.

May be worth printing this off matt if you havnt done it already, save messing about when you get there searching for a pen to sign on.

G, thanks for the heads up on the registration form :) I will fill that in and take it with me.

Sosha, thanks for the advice on the food and drinks. I was planning to take my own sarnies but will ensure I have every source of sustainance I could possibly want on the day!

Really hope the weather holds out!

Should I bother with taking tape to tape up my lights? I've heard stories of people's lights melting the plastic covering them! I can fold my mirrors in but not too sure about any other prep I should do?

Cheers,
Matt

You dont NEED to tape you light up, most are plastic now days anyway. If you want to you can pull the plug from the bulb or remove the fuse for the headlights. If you have your lights on it knackers the professional photos.

I take my mirrors right off, although yours have indicators in I think so you cant do that?

Weathers looking good, had a ride today to get used to the bike again after 3 weeks not riding it lol, should hopefully be ok tomorrow and not do anything silly. Front brakes felt abit weird so hopefully they wont play up tomorrow, kind of vital really lol

See you tomorrow.
