Does no one know what a buddy double bubble is?!

Actually, I'm pretty sure 99% of the people on this forum do, but the people at Busters, M&P and a couple of sellers on eBay don't!

I thought I'd get a tinted double bubble screen as I've been doing a lot of motorway miles recently going back and forth between my uni house in Portsmouth and my home in Gloucestershire.

This is now the fourth time that i've ordered a 'double bubble' screen, and the 4th time people have sent me the wrong item, or incorrectly reguarded the standard screen as double bubble.

Bought an 'Airblade double bubble' SV screen from busters for £40, that turned out to have no actual double bubble on it, just a little flick at the top of the screen (airflow?). Didnt want that, so got it refunded and sent it back.

Bought a similar item that had a picture of a proper double bubble screen on an SV next to it from M&P and thought I would get that.

Nope.

Received the same damn screen with the flick at the top of it.

Got on the blower and sorted out a refund and sent it back. Had a little butchers at the busters-accessories and M&P direct's websites and apart from the different design styles, they seem to be exactly the same! Same navigation menu, almost exactly the same items at the same prices as well!

Left it for a couple of weeks then found a good looking one on ebay that said it was double bubble, I confirmed it with the seller, bought it and got it delivered. Was it double bubble? Again, NO. Just a standard screen and not even tinted like it said in the listing. Contacted them and said they'd sent me the wrong item, to which he apologised and said had been a mix up and would send me the tinted double bubble asap. That was over a month ago now and I haven't heard anything. Got a refund through paypal though so I wasn't left out of pocket, just left out of screen.

THEN, I found this on ebay and snapped it up. Says double bubble in the listing (twice) and has a picture of a tinted double bubble screen on an SV. I thought 'Great! Finally!'.

Received it today and its the bloody standard screen, just with a dark tint. It even says on a sticker attached to the screen, "Type: Smoked, Standard".

Is there a shortage of double bubbles or something like that that i'm not aware of?!

I just wan't a god damn double bubble!

Can I suggest buying a fabri one, IMO the best double bubble and also slightly cheaper. We picked up Lily's for around £30.

Nope, no shortage just idiot sellers (although I am not surprised about M&P and Busters).

Best ones to get are either Zero Gravity or Fabbri personally. The quality of the materials is the same, but in my experience the Zero Gravity ones just seem to be a little better finished.

Oh... and you are right, those ones you have been receiving are 'flip-up' screens.

I got a Powerbronze double bubble screen from Demon Bikes (through Sam on here for .org discount).

It's better than the stock screen but doesn't seem as aggressively shaped as some of the other screens. Would maybe go for a different type i.e. Fabbri if I ever needed another.

Still, it looks a million times better than the stock screen.

Whereabouts? Cheapest I could find for a Fabbri one was £55!

Cheers everyone, I like the look of that Fabbri screen. I'll have to wait until I get a reply from the ebay seller for the last screen I bought, get a refund from that, then have a look around for the cheapest Fabbri screen :)

Luckypants, do you know what the fit is like for the MRA DB on a pointy (K4)? I was v. impressed with their Vario one (fitted as well as the stock screen), and now want to replace this with a DB.

we got it was a dealer near us. We were shocked at the price when we saw it and didn't know if it was marked up wrong, but they still charged us that.

Zero Gravity and MRA have to be the best fitting overall, a great fit and just like OEM.

Speedy Claire has one on her K4. Fit looks excellent with no stretched seams or creaks etc. It's very sturdy and is good thick plastic. I chose an MRA for my VFR after seeing Claire's and several recommends from VFR owners. It fitted really well.

Cheers everyone, got a Zero Gravity db from sportsbikeshop.net as I've had good experiences with ordering from them in the past. At £65 it was a little more than I wanted to spend, but from what has been said on here, it seems to have the best finish and fits just like OE, which is great.

I guess i've learned not to go for the cheapest option and to spend a bit more money to get a quality (and correct!) product :D

Busters & M&P may well be separate companies as far as accounting is concerned, but for all other reasons they are one and the same. I visited Busters with the intention of buying a new jacket, having seen it on their website, I wanted to try it on. Got there only to be told the shop does not carry the full stock, they can order it in from the warehouse.

"Where's that" I say, " Is it the place in Gorseinon?"

"Yes" she replies.

"So that's M&P" says I.

"Err.. yes" she replies.

Re: Does no one know what a buddy double bubble is?!

+2 for the powerbronze ones..although mine are curvies. never had any issues with my airflow ones, only gripes about the trim that they put round the top edge, at high speeds its has a habit of trying to come off...solved with a dab of super glue aat the ends of it

Re: Does no one know what a buddy double bubble is?!

if you're after a bit of discount, could be worth trying to whole

"Well I'm looking to buy one of these screens but I'm going to the bike show at the end of the month anyway so I guess they'll be cheaper there? Are you going to be at the show? And what sort of discount are you gonna be offering? Oh right? If you could do one at that price right now, I've got my debit card in my hand"

deal. done.

next: profiteroles
