org trackday- 3 options

hey guys,
it looks like we have 3 options for the trackday that phil 24_7 has kindly posted dates for, and then ive thrown a spanner in the works with this option:

Option one: Do the silverstone trackday on 1st March

Option two: Do the rockingham trackday on 22th March

Option three: be greedy like me and treacle and do both

I know some people wouldnt be able/want to to do both but itd be nice to see who'd like to do both with us :) (either way my standard system is gonna have to go back on teal as its soooo loud :( )

What's good about that?

Also what are the tracks like? If someone could please explain I'm sure that would help more than just me
Ta :)

Because I did Mallory with Hotrax and their organising abilities were sh!t amongst other things.

And I have heard lots of good things about No Limits.

Re: org trackday- 3 options

No limits are amazing but never heard anything bad about hottrax, they're just not top drawer like NL.

Paws 28-01-09 10:29 PM

Re: org trackday- 3 options

Both tracks are good if your a newbie/learner/nervous as rockingham is quite small and not too complicated and silverstone is nice and wide with lots of run off lol
Did my one and only trackday at rockingham with css and loved it!, did bikesafe day at silverstone

Rockingham National Circuit
A mostly left handed circuit contained in the centre of the Rockingham facility. It has its own blend of fast left and right hand turns and a short straight links them together, The short National circuit is technical,

Voted rockingham because I did silverstone GP 3 times last year and the national layout doesn't appeal to me. I'd rather wait until june/aug when focussed events do another circuit saver on the full circuit.

Dunno if you've ever done a trackday but if you want to go fast do Silverstone and if you want loads of nice tight-ish corners do the Rock. I'd say SV for the Rock and Ninja for Silverstone. Rockingham is one of the few tracks in England with a good amount of left handers too.

Is Silverstone above with Hotrax?

Yarp. I have a few issues with Hottrax but I wouldn't let them put me off doing a trackday with them.

Voted Rockingham

I voted Rockingham.

Silverstone is quite slippery until the track is in constant use, i.e. mid summer.

Going there in March is not for me.

Voted Rockingham because I cant make the silverstone date. Depending on my job situation I may be able to do absolutely naff all though :(

No limits are easily better than hottrax

Voted Rockingham as i think Silverstone is with Hotrax which don't allow restrcited licenses on track where as NL do.:)

Well, I think the vote may be swinging towards Rockingham!!

Oh right. I will look into that then. Thanks for the heads up.

I may still just vote for Rockingham though, as it is more local to me...

Re: org trackday- 3 options

Rockingham on the sunday will be £85

However, if there is enough people genuinely willing to go then theres a chance of a good discount.

It says 12 people on the pole so far, if we could at least get 10 then we would be on to a winner but inevitably people always pull out or say they will pay then dont :(

You would need 10 saying YES before ringing up.

You forgot to count the both's. Now I could be wrong on this, but I think that means they want to do Rockingham as well ;)

Laura, I will try and go with majority. As I don't know if I will be working shifts its hard for me to book time off. I will need to know the date and then beg my Insp.

But as soon as date is set then I will see if I can book time off :) just have to clear it thru 2 Insp at the mo, my current one and the one who may be my boss at end of month.

xx

No offence Hovis but plz dont spam this thread, this is for silverstone or rockingham-the two dates that most the org have chosen for a MARCH trackday

phil24_7 01-02-09 05:18 PM

Re: org trackday- 3 options

Just for Hovis - I will be sorting a track day out for Donny later in the year. It will be a summer one as they don't start for a few months yet, and it will be a little more expensive. I'll post something in March or April so keep an eye on the track days section a little later in the year.

I will be booking on both of these (more than likely!) and may even arrange them both as org days depending on the poll results this evening.

The trackday proposed is on the national circuit......which is the best.

I wouldn't say it was big at all! Laptimes are short compared to a lot of other circuits. I have absolutely no idea what my laptimes were round there (I asked the wife to time but she forgot ) but it's over pretty quickly. Nowhere near as long as Donington or Silverstone.

However, I think it has good elevation changes, good grip levels (so long as you're on the racing line!), a good mix of fast and slow corners and as Paws says, lots of left handers (well, one big left hander really) so it's good for peeps to practise getting left knee down

It's pretty terrible for spectators but the pro photographer gets some good photos.
