Reasonable price or not?
1 Attachment(s)
I've recently passed my test and looking for an SV for under £1500.
I've found one and was just wondering if it sounds good for the price? The advert reads as follows: - 2000, W reg, - 13,550 miles, - Blue, full fairing, hugger, double bubble screen, Thatcham CAT1 alarm. - Just had a full service and MOT, 6m tax. Tyres almost new, chain and sprockets good, new brake linings. There is a full set of keys, alarm fobs, documentation, including user handbook, plus original toolkit. The original exhaust system, original screen, rear seat tidy and Haynes manual are available for sale. £1,500. It's pretty local to me so I'm quite interested. |
Re: Reasonable price or not?
from what you've written sounds about right but without seeing it most people will prob tell you the same. At the face of it though :) its your new bike!

Re: Reasonable price or not?
Just added a picture of it.
Yeah I thought it sounded like a decent price. What are the main things I should look for if I go to view the bike? Any issues specific to the SV? |
Re: Reasonable price or not?
The one I originally posted has been sold :(
Found another though and was just wondering if anyone could help me. I've seen a picture of it and it looks, to me, that there is a dent or something in the left hand side of the tank (Next to the Suzuki logo). Here's a picture of it http://pictures.autotrader.co.uk/img...a?id=946881013 They don't mention anything about a dent in the description or anything though. Wht do you guys reckon? |
Re: Reasonable price or not?
Give them a call and ask them a few questions about the dent, MOT Tax etc the same sort of general crap you'd expect. Someone will be on shortly to go into details on what to look for in an inspection but tbh, if its your first bike you'll be too damn excited to think and you'll buy it even if its a shed :D

Re: Reasonable price or not?
I don't actually think it's a dent now. From looking at other pics of 2000 SV's it just seems to be the shape of the tank at the front. I'm going to view it tommorow anyway. :D
It's done 18,500 miles, has a Data Tool Thatcham approved alarm, scorpion exhaust (road legal) crash bobbins, and new battery. Taxed till Dec 09 & 12 months MOT. He's asking £1,499 ONO. How much you reckon I should offer? http://pictures.autotrader.co.uk/img...a?id=946881004 http://pictures.autotrader.co.uk/img...a?id=946881008 |
Re: Reasonable price or not?
check the clearances have been done on a bike from 14-18k. these are the most expensive part on a service. Providing there's not visible crash damage go for it.

Re: Reasonable price or not?
if you dont know anyone who is into bikes who can come take a look at it for you then ask one of the pennine massive lot to come check it out with you.

Re: Reasonable price or not?
How can I check if the clearances have been done? Will I have to take the owners word for it or is there any way to check? I apologise but I really know next to nothing about bikes.

but when i took my curvy, i was told it would cost £140 extra to check them, and not too bother, as they hardly ever need adjusting. which put me off using this garage, so i got a mate to do them. but im not sure if you can tell if they have been done, ? |
Re: Reasonable price or not?
Well I bought the bike and rode it home from Sheffield. About a 32 mile trip back along the M1 and a few twisty roads and what a machine! Acceleration is like nothing I have experienced and I love it. Done around 85 miles in total already and really enjoying it. Very happy with my purchase as it's a very tidy bike.
Will do a detailed write-up of the bike tomorrow as I'm going to get an early night, up early for work in the morning! Will also get some pictures as the ones in the advert do not do her justice! |
